These are on ebay all the time. Also check with auto recyclers. Got mine from Schram's for 25 bucks.

I am having a hard time getting this to work with my Marantec 4500 door opener. Anyone else use this and get it to work?

UPS delivered my UHR console today installed it in 5-6 minutes thanks to this forum very simple mod and programming was done in less than 30 seconds. got the console from Schrams on ebay thanx Blake

I wonder if they offer this part for 2005 GMC trucks as well? I've been wanting to get this installed so I don't have to keep a garage door opener in my truck.

here's a note for all 2009+ truck owners: the designed has changed!

 

I just did this mod to my 2009 Sierra. The bracket design changed. You can use the same unit, but when you remove the existing one you need to remove the torx screws and reuse the bracket left behind.

8. Another consideration before installing the GM UHR is that it is continuously energized, even when the truck is turned off and the key is removed from the ignition. Personally, I wish that the remote would not operate when the truck is turned off and the key is removed. Reason being is that I park my truck in the driveway. If someone were to break into my truck and knew how to operate the transmitter, they would have access into my garage/house.

 

its the same thing with the battery operated ones. just lock the back door, if they come in, they're gonna die. Also, most garage door pads that are installed on the inside of your house have a "lock" feature for this reason. Guess they could steal the transmisster and come by later.

mine doesn't work if the security system is active.

 

 

turn off truck

 

open door to kill RAP power

 

close door

 

lock via keyfob

 

wait until flashing lock on cluster goes out (means system is now armed)

 

 

Homelink buttons now disabled..

just a quick note to say thanks for writing this up...i bought a 2011 Silverado LTZ Z71 and i couldn't believe it didn't come with the Universal Home Remote...i tried to find the part number referenced in this thread but it changed to 25977643. i found it on gmpartsdirect for $190 but the shipping was $45! i was able to talk my dealer into ordering the part for me at $240 and had it the next morning. what an easy install! it took less than 15 minutes and i was up and running. too bad the trailer brake package isn't this easy.

 

now i have to figure out how easy it is to add the parking sensors...

Kyle, your vehicle seems similarly equipped as mine but apparently did not come with the home link option. My research has shown me that this is because it is deleted when the vehicle is ordered with factory snow plow prep (VYU I believe). Did your truck come with factory snow plow prep?

 

The reason I ask is it would be very reassuring to know that you had successfully added the Home Link Option to a vehicle which was in fact equipped with Factory snow plow prep.

 

If it's not then it's still just an unconfirmed shot in the dark if it will work or not.

 

Any help would be most appreciated & thank you in advance for your most appreciated help!

Just wanted to add I ordered this option for my factory ordered truck. They missed it on the order so I asked my dealer to install it.

They had the nerve to install an aftermarket unit in my truck. I was livid. Then my salesman said he didn't think it was available to order!

It took me about 2 minutes to find this thread. I sent it to my salesman. If I knew so little about my products as these sales people do, I would be out of business long ago. I think he just couldn't be bothered to look for 10 minutes!

i tried this and it still didn't work. i'm starting to wonder if the part gmpartsdirect sent me is defective. the led lights work, it just won't transmit!
