2009 Denali Pricing

Recommended Posts

I am new to this forum, and appreciate all of the great feedback that seems to take place. I look forward to gaining much more information in the future. I would like to purchase a 2009 Denali fully loaded. It appears that the sticker would be around $50K and the instant discount would bring it to around $46K. What is your experience on how low the price will go in this market? Anyone with recent experience at a dealer that could share general pricing discounts would be appreciated.

I'm gonna be honest--and brutal---and give you the truth. Don't buy a new one. Buy a used one.

Late model used 07/08 Denali's can be BOUGHT for $26k to $28k out the door.

Why buy a new one at near $50k, and watch the value plummet right after you sign the papers??

Resale on these behemoths SUCK righ now, and nobody wants them

don't make a $22000 dollar mistake...track a used one down with low miles- they are out there.

Hell yeah, and you still get the 5yr/100k warranty.... My local dealer has had a couple low mileage ones people traded in when gas hit 4$/gal . They were scooped up fairly quickly surprisingly enough.

I've always bought my vehicles new, but I'm going to have to agree with Stealth here. Considering the market for trucks, it's hard to justify buying new when you can get almost the exact same truck, albeit with some miles on it, and save an enormous amount of money. Buy an '07, which is identical to the '08s and damn near identical to the '09s, and use some of the 15K you save for some mods.

$41,590 is the price on a loaded out AWD Denali new in white with a black cabing at my GMC dealer. I wouldn't be used because you can't get as good of a rate on the loan. Plus your getting someone elses problems.

It's not just the trucks that seem to depreciate more than expected, but also 8 cylinder engine cars. For example, a new 2008 Impala SS stickers for about $ 32K. I just saw several used 2008 Impalas SS's advertised for $ 15K!!!!!!! They had about 25k miles each, but the price is less than 1/2 the original sticker price. That's a huge depreciation for a one year old car. And honestly, the rebates and discounts on those cars are not that great so you will pay about $ 27k for a new one.

You're getting a warranty too.

I bet if you go in for one of those cars, they'll have " . . . just sold them. But I'll show you another car you'll surely love." Maybe not, but we saw that alot when shopping for her car last year.

But I do think an Impala SS would be a fun car to drive :D

It was on eBay and even now there is one with the starting bid of $ 15,500 without reserve and nobody has bid on it yet. Buy-it-now is $ 17,200. The car has 30k miles. So I was not making this up.

I had an '08 Impalla SS as a rental car - needless to say I drove the hell out of it. The only problem is that it is a front wheel drive car and when you get on it real hard it will pull to one side...

Back to the topic at hand - go used. They are incredibly cheap right now.

FYI, I paid 46 and window sticker was 48.5, when they first came out in May of '07. Had everything but rear e-window. They were hot at the time, with most dealers only getting one. As much as it makes sense with the buy used savings all above say, I have had nothing but trouble with all the 3 or so used trucks I've bought, even certified one's, while my experience buying 5 or so new ones has been pleasurable, with zero to little trouble with any of them throughout their life with me. Just my opinion, but I also can absorb the extra $300/month with no big trouble.

I would think today they would take 43-44 pretty easily, especially if they have more than one.

Good luck. It has been my favorite of many, even with the e-nannies.

Thanks to all for the comments. I am actually weighing used against new. I have purchased both in the past. There are times when new gets low enough to at least consider the additional price. I have not found the truck I m looking for as used, though I am not in a particular hurry either. I have 2 vehicles to trade or not to trade for the new truck, so I am not sure if financing will be a factor. I do like the idea of the warranty on a new truck, however if the truck is close to what I want and the price is right used would be a real advantage.

I am sure you can bargain hard for a new or used right now. People and business are strapped and cash is King. I would not be afraid either way new or used. Dealer profits can be higher on a used rig depending on what they used for ACV when they traded. It would not surprise me to find a new 08 on a lot that had plenty of room to negotiate, but I haven't been by a dealer lately. If you trade a vehicle or two, always ask what the ACV on your trades is. You may be shocked.
