Lifting My 1st Car

Hey guys I got my first car and its a 2003 GMC Sonoma. I am looking for a lift kit to raise it. I am not looking to go offroading or lift it more than 1", I just want to get the Sonoma a little higher. Any Ideas for kits? How to guides?

BTW I am a teen with a BUDGET!! No $1,000 lift kits please

If I remember correctly... Blocks would lower an S10. Axle is on the top of the springs and the front is coils if it is 2WD. I am afraid I don't have the answers for lifting one.

if he has a zr2 the leafs will be ontop of the axle.

But he doesn't.

I believe you may want to look into an under/over kit. It repositions the axle on top of the leaf springs to give it some lift. I think they come with wedges or something as well so that your pinion angle doesn't go out of spec. I saw them install one on Trucks once, it may have even been on an S10

Just relocate the axle under the leaf springs as Crazy Canuck said and crank the torsion bars a bit. No "rigging" involved, just simple, cheap suspension mods that work. Your ride will be a little rougher with cranked torsion bars, plus you'll need to get an alignment (as you would with any suspension modification), but there's no sense in getting a real lift if you only want an inch. Hell, I don't even think there are 1" suspension lifts available. I've only heard of 2" and up.

you could get some 2 inch lift shackles for cheap. Those all you need to install is a impact wrnch and a pry bar. Then crank the t bars for the lift in the front.
