2011 Sierra 5'8" Tonneau cover, which one?

Recommended Posts

2011 Sierra crew 1500 5-8 box. Previously the thought of a tonneau was enough to make me gag. But more and more they are almost too versatile to pass up.. I used the back of my truck and didn't want the hassle, the rails, or the Velcro. However, the tri-fold vinyls seem to be pretty cool! The draw back is there is a huge lot of 200-300 ones that are all over the board for quality. I like the truxedo one that I can open cab side or tailgate but they are 525.00(and has rails and Velcro). Some of the 200-300 ones are just junk but there has to be a pretty good one in there somewhere for my budget.

I know you get what you pay for but I also think there is something to be said for the guy that buys the expensive one to say he got the best too...

What do you guys have and what do you not like or love (and price).

Thanks :help:

I have a Truxedo Lo Pro QT on my truck. It doesn't sound like you are looking for this style of Tonneau, but I would tell you to reconsider. I wasn't much of a Tonneau guy myself, but this thing is great. For what gets hauled around in the bed of my truck the cover doesn't interfere. It looks great on the truck and super easy to use. The Velcro on this Tonneau is much better than others that I have seen. I just use a bristle brush if "junk" gets into the Velcro and it cleans out nicely.

Just my $0.02

I keep coming back to the Truxedo Lo Pro or the Deuce. The Trifold would be nice but having only 2/3 of the bed open (which would work for most of my stuff I do) or having to take it out to use the entire bed is just going to be a PIA... Thanks!

Any other suggestions out there?? Pro/con's?

I got the Extang trifecta as well. Material stays tight and spring loaded clamps at the tailgate end are really nice feature. Never had water in the bed after driving in rain. Very pleased.

All that said, I may consider a hard-shell tri-fold for a future truck. Doing 75+ mph on the highway, negative air pressure really causes it belly-up behind the window, but always remains tight when parked. You can also lay tools on the back of a hard-shell if you are working on something.

I have the undercover flex and am very happy with it. The quality is very good and it is a low profile installation. It allows full use of the bed and protects the rear window from cargo when it is folded to the fully open position.

I ended up ordering up a Truxedo Lo Pro Qt. It wasn't where I started but its where I kept coming back to as for versatility, quality and overall function. I almost got the Deuce but ended up talking myself out of it... The thought of accessing the front of the box without being able to reach it anyways as well as the 1/4 high step up where the hinge is would drive me nuts.. The Low Pro Qt will end up working out very nicely! I appreciate the input and PM's regarding some of these choices..

Hopefully it will be here in a few days... Thanks to all!

X2 I have had 4 lopros over the years on trucks and this last one came with an extang revolution (not exactly a cheap cover)... I miss my lopro. the function and quality sure beat the one I have now
