15 Sierra Crew/std bed, 5.3/6spd max tow. Have over 150k and still going. Not 1 issue, still looks and drives like new considering the abuse she's been put through. This bitch works hard and keeps coming back for more! Aside from 3 sets of tires, light bulbs, level, aal, and shocks, I haven't done anything, except routine maintenance. No catch can. Wait! I had the ac condensor and pump replaced. Unfortunately NOT under fuggin warranty because that's been gone for a year. 1100 later and my ac is fresh again! Only thing I do is drive in manual mode in 5th. Keeps it in v8 mode. I don't baby this truck at all. When not towing or hauling i drive it like a race car. 373s with the 6spd make it feel quick/fun so traction and stabilitrac are turned off often! Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk3 points

Yes I'm a autodidact. But I have to give credit to the people I know in the tuning world for the input. Been doing it for 17 years. Had a 1600hp single turbo LSX and new engine is a 481x PLR with a ton more power. Any no it isn't "Dyno" tuned. I got 20mpg yesterday on my highway drive. I was little shocked myself but with the leaner lambda(afr) and the truck in 6 gear at super low rpm (different speed settings) it is out of boost. With it lowered and maybe a a** wind it worked. Thats sadly not a valid GM part number I guess it may be easier just to take a picture of the label and post it up if you can? Also just to everyone know we are getting incredibly busy again. If you email asking for fitment we will email back a new doc we created that breaks everything out with the specs and proper part numbers. These are for a perfect match with all US spec options that will allow you to upgrade to a cluster that supports the steering wheel controls should you wish to make that leap at a later time (or the same time). Just trying to streamline this and get back to people quickly as it takes a bit of time to run checks for proper fitment and with the current workload we want to be able to get back to people as fast as possible with relevant information but still be able to process orders in a timely manner. Thank you for your understanding!2 points

The lamest kind of fight is an internet fight. There are some good points made by both sides. Please don't ruin the thread. Seriously you never know whos on the other end. The one your making fun of could be special forces, an agent, a serial killer, a chomo, or a noodle armed geek - YOU do not know so why speculate & try to pump yourself by calling someone who is bringing intelligent information a clever to you name.. about as retarded as it gets. truth is if you just have a cold air and a cat back and you find an expert like Justin from Blackbear and have him do a street tune with HP tuners You would be surprised how your 300 whp truck now runs. I've done that, way worth it to me. So I just don't like discouraging people from doing something that may be cool to them. It's been mentioned: low budget - less expectation get the cheapest handheld, more budget get a custom tuned handheld. want max results find a tuner/dyno/tool to get you there and research more than just all our limited opinions. MNGA - make the net great again. If a guy wants to blow money by getting more tool than he needs who cares, you stand around at the hardware store too? Don't buy that impact! too much! you don't need all those ft-lbs. just get a breaker bar...2 points

Shop was 33°F (1°C) all day today. Still need to get my waste oil burner hooked up. Been too busy. This was supposed to happen in July ... Got a kerosene torpedo out there for the interim, but I only fire that up when it gets into the 20's out there - that's about my limit. Hate working on stuff only to keep pausing to see if something is on fire. Nope, just the fog from my breath!2 points

Got a Chinese vendor to send me a couple sets of these(free) that I'm gonna try out. I like how they look as there pretty low profile. Its got 6D optic which should work good for my application. I already have a 20" 90W in the bull bar on the front of my truck and 2x 72W 12" on the sport bar so I have no shortage of forward facing white lights. I plan on having these canted 30°-40° which should light up ditches better. As for control My first mod to the truck was installing the factory upfitter switches. As it sits now I have it set so Sw1- makes all the lights come on with the highbeams. (an absolute must) SW2- Flood light (bull bar) SW3- Spot lights (sport bar mounted) SW4- Rock lights. But with the new set of lights I don't really need the different lights on separate switches so I'm probably going to go with SW1- highbeam overide SW2- Forward facing white SW3- (spare) maybe add some rear facing lights. SW4- Rock lights I'm not a very big fan of the homelink accesory modules. You have to use 2 buttons one for on and one to turn them off. There is also a slight delay and you don't get a indicator light like the upfitter switches have.(although you really shouldn't need a indicator light for forward facing white lights...) Even though I only put my new exhaust tip on 2 days ago I thought it was a little small at only 3.5" so I ordered this guy which is 4.25" And also ordered 50Ft of JET black exhaust wrap to cover the ugly factory exhaust pipe that's visible. ( its usually used on motorbike exhaust and headers but I think it will look good on the back of the truck.1 point

Adding data as conditions and time permit. Yes there is some noise in the data but the trend line holds. I expected that. Wind direction and wind speed seem to have SOME effect. A best guess is about 4 degree F head wind to tail wind up to a wind speed of about 20 mph. Any concern I had about the ability of the thermostat delete over cooling, that is unable to maintain a minimum 100 degree F floor is pretty much history. Even in temperatures around the lowest seen to date, 15 F, she can get to 100F in about 15 miles. Perhaps come spring I might add a thermostat that has a min flow bypass (something the factory 192 F stat lacked) and a floor around 145 F.1 point

Use one of these in your harness for the light(s) you want to control. There’s dozens of companies that make them all kinds of prices then program the Homelink button(s) with the remote just like a garage door opener. I say buttons cause everybody that I’ve seen done requires one button for “ON” and one for “OFF”. I’m trying to find somebody that has found a transmitter that will use one button for both on & off if I find it I’ll let you know as I only have one Homelink button to spare. https://www.amazon.com/Totron-Controller-Wireless-Multiple-Patterns/dp/B00UR2DIRI/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1544736757&sr=8-1&keywords=totron+light+bar+controller Also I forget what frequency range the Homelink works on but I think someone found a transmitter that was outside that range and wouldn’t program.1 point

Not to long ago I bought a 100k 2014 GMC 6.2, that looks and drives like a 10k mile truck. I've only had it for 5K miles now but it runs like a scalded dog. I had an 2008 denali 6.2 with header and a tune with 180k miles before it was totaled. I know it's a different engine but it didn't scare me. I've wait the 5k miles to mod it just to make sure every thing was solid. Now it's time for headers, custom tune and E85 conversion.1 point

Are you self taught? Good Lord you know a ton of this tuning world. I wish I could even understand your world...even just a little lol. Hats off to you and those with your knowledge because most of us (most wont even admit it) don’t have a clue.1 point

Awesome, a wrap is a great mid-range economy option (not as cheap as plasti-dip or as expensive as stripping/paint). I've had good luck with wraps in past vehicles, the shop I used had a 7 year warranty on the wrap. Could return for any reason and they would fix or replace it. Hope it turns out how you want it to.1 point

Painting the inner would be a pita no question. If I were to do the inner I would have it blasted just enough to ruff up the chrome for good adhesion, then run a red scotch brite over everthing, and go directly to spraying. Multistage wet on wet process. Etch prime, black sealer, color, and then clear with flex additive to help with rock chips.1 point

I traded in my 2015 Silverado Z71 4x4 CC 5.3 on this 2019 Sierra All Terrain 4x4 CC 6.6 DMAX. We plan to upgrade our camper from a travel trailer to a 5th wheel. Note, the "sport bar" is already gone. Replaced with a low profile UWS matte black toolbox. Sent from my LM-G710 using Tapatalk1 point

Thanks to everyone for their input. A lot of this is just my personality. I am not a risk taker. I don't gamble, not even penny slots or $1 scratch off lotto cards. I suppose I could leave the truck alone and focus my attention of the girlfriend's 2010 Camaro RS/SS.1 point

This thread is getting heated don't know if I'm safe in there. Just need to keep telling myself I'm a badass. Last time Anyways in honesty PARA sounds like it isn't for you cat back will not mess with the downstream O2s and a intake will change about nothing without tune. I can see the appeal and even the fun in a display vs a laptop. I'm sure HPT sees this also that is why they came out with the. But I don't support that item yet. I will say as I have before warranty work is like a horrible divorce and your the kids in the deal. Dealer is 99% of the issue. How they write it to the rep/GM is how it will be reviewed and handled. All my work is covered and never a issue. They can't just write reason for warranty work denied "tune" has to show how and what said change caused the part to break. But is it possible for a dealer to screw a person over? Absolutely and if this is a concern to you maybe moding your truck isn't for you. My dealer is great and has 650hp brand new trucks on the dealer floor with full warranties. Oh as for the trans life with torque management removed not as simple as yes or no. The power level is the biggest factor to this question. But I will say a CAI and catback will not break the trans. also disabling it is only one option you can also set different limits. I will post pics from phone later.1 point

With GM'S warranty it's much more common to be denied warranty without any tuning either by a loop hole or something they can call abuse. The amount of vehicles tuned is so small it's unlikely to happen.1 point

It amusing the mindset these days. I want everything with no risk. Back in the day we spent weekends bolting on HP to gain 50 HP. Today fuel and a tune you’re there. Warranty is the next worry. I haven’t heard of a denial on a gas tune yet. Of course back in the day we didn’t have a warranty to speak of. We tinkered all week. My opinion is if you’re an enthusiast you unlock the beast within, tune it pick your poison. If you’re just a driver, drive on. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

You need to be able to communicate with the ECM.. You say that you have no codes, but is the data line down? You want to make sure you can read data. Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk1 point

Not sure why your truck won’t start, but wanted to point out that if your current engine was the original, it did not have VVT. VVT for the 5.3L came starting on the 2010 engines. I agree on checking the fuel system, make sure the MAF or any other wires weren’t knocked loose too.1 point

I would have Texas Speed double check their work for free. Assuming the programming is good, I would look at the fuel system. Is the fuel pump coming on? Is the fuel filter plugged? Is the fuel pressure regulator working? Do you have good fuel pressure? Are the fuel injectors "firing"?1 point

Thanks. I do have more pics, but will have to post them later. If you're thinking about a blacked out grill, DO NOT get the $300 one that's all over ebay and amazon. I tried that first and it is cheaply made thin plastic, will not hold up over time. I returned it and found a shop that sand blasted a chrome denali grill to get it to bare plastic, primed it, and painted it to match my black GM paint. Unfortunately, it has been chipping from all my highway driving so I need to see if they'll redo the paint job. They said they applied 3 coats of clear coat, but it has not held up well. If you have someone paint a grill for you, make sure you are comfortable with their return/rework policy. I think I may be in a fight with them and will be looking into other options... Also, if you're thinking about painting over any chrome save yourself time and money by not doing it. I made that mistake on a previous vehicle and the paint started peeling/chipping in very little time. Paint does not adhere well to chrome, even if you rough up the chrome. You want to paint over bare plastic and use a good primer if you want it to last. If you're looking for a quick, temporary solution Plasti-dip is the way to go. You can see how you like the look of it, and it peels off if you're not happy. It's also cheap so you can apply it later if you get peeling, scratches, etc.1 point
