  2. No pix of the install but replaced factory door and dash speakers with Alpine type S on all 4 doors with 1" tweeters on the dash TODAY. Sounds soooo much better than a bose setup. 6. Your tech friend is fully wrong in this case. The calibration that GM updates with the GM CAI modifies and changes the MAF scale and corrects the AFR for when the truck is in Open Loop during WOT. The only areas the ECM learns on these systems is the short term and long term fuel trims along with some of the idle airflow qualities. So resetting the ECM does nothing other than to clear the STFT and LTFT tables, the idle tables and if done by pulling the battery the adaptive learning tables for the transmission. GM didnt go thru having to get CARB certifications for their CAI by only resetting the computers.

  9. While I'm sure we are all waiting for the adjustable hitch manufacturers to come out with a solution to work with the multipro tailgate. I decided to try and find something that was already around that would work. I originally had a b&w tow and stow, and it was set to 6 inches of drop for my 2020 which sits just about right for a level ride with my utility trailer. Got me to thinking is there a 6 inch drop hitch that has the angled design? And would it clear the new multipro tailgate fully deployed? The answer to both is YES! YES it does! Here is a link to a solution that works. Hopefully this helps a few people. Ultratow 6 inch Drop - Forged Steel Ball Mount

  10. Hey Hutch what did you use to tint the tails with?

  11. Thanks, I built it myself. My dad bought the truck in ‘77 and it was my ride home when I was born. It sat since 1980 in pieces and I got it ‘05 when my dad passed.

  14. That’s the tag lights. Well, not inaccessible, but a little tricky with fat fingers.

  15. Not difficult at all. 2 screws holding each tail light, pop out, locate the reverse light bulb (should be the middle I believe), swap bulbs and reverse procedure. Easiest mod.

  19. OP, to answer your question, YES, I did regret buying the 5.3 instead of the 6.2 back in 2014, got rid of it primarily because competitors where more powerful and it’s an outdated motor when comparing HP to competitors, it always seemed to struggle when I needed it the most. I traded it in a few months later. Buying and owning a 6.2 will give you a much much more powerful vehicle which will make you want to keep it longer, as long as you can afford $5-$10 difference at the pump. Sent from Above

  21. I've owned several 5.3 trucks. My 19 is a 6.2. The one thing to consider is where previously you could do performance upgrades currently they are very limited. So what you have is pretty much all your going to get. I'm sure eventually tuning will be available but if it's anything like the corvette world the price for tuning is outrageous. Even small performance items like a air intake and cat back can cost you $2000 plus dollars and will still not perform anything like a 6.2. That's not even figuring the 10 speed vs the 8 speed in the equation for the 19 models. The 2020 10 speed 5.3 will perform slightly better than the previous 8 speed models but the 65 hp difference between the 6.2 and 5.3 is still very noticable.

  23. My salesman told me they dropped the electric tilt/telescopic wheel because too many people use the steering wheel to help pull themselves into the vehicle and the electric version was more prone to wear from this, which made it not work correctly or at all and it is super expensive to repair or replace. Take that for what its worth...

  27. Picked up a 2019 Sierra SLT Premium Plus X31 Crew Cab Short Box tonight. MSRP $60,060, got it for $47,859. No trade in. Old truck was a 2000 Silverado Z71. Been driving it for 15 years. So happy to have a new ride after so long. Still was pretty good mechanically but started getting lights flashing on the dash. May take the motor out of it and put it in a 53 Chevy truck I have

  28. Got a OEM overstock new painted bumper and take off chrome grille last week. Today, got my new HC wheels mounted up on some 285/65r20 BFG’s. SUPER happy with how it came out. I’m finally getting close to the vision I had back when I bought my truck, of a “non-blacked out“ trail boss. Call me crazy, but I’m not a fan of all the black. No hate, just a preference for me personally. I really like how it’s turning out though!

  29. Waited and searched for this truck. Crew cab with a real 6.5' bed. Not the stubby 5.5' bed that most are coming with nowadays. Window Tint: 50% with 8" strip across top of windshield Lift: Motofab 3" leveling strut spacer Exhaust: MBRP 2.5" cat-back exhaust. I went with a system because it retained the factory tubing diameter in hopes of gaining a 'mature' sounding exhaust but man was that a mistake. For some reason this MBRP system DROOOONES! Like, BAD!. It sounds like a 16 year old kid just found his fathers hacksaw and went to town on his exhaust pipe. I will most definitely be swapping it out for another system once I hear some real-world examples. Wheels: 17 x 8.5 Method Double Standard rims with 285/70/17 Toyo Open Country RT tires. The wheels did contact the front brake caliper just a hair so I had to add 1/4" wheel spacers to achieve proper clearance. I would definitely go with a 35" tire next time though, I just got a SUPER killer deal on 5 of these wheels. Styling: USA Flag tailgate letters look pretty slick! Next up: Fox suspension on all 4 corners, Camburg Racing upper control arms, Deaver leaf pack and Baja Designs 30" light bar.

  31. This could be the single stupidest thread on this forum. The suspension will loosen up after a few thousand miles and these are trucks. They ride rougher than cars. 20" or 22" wheels are worse that 17" or 18". Run the correct tire pressure depending on you load. The End.

  32. Bought her June 29th. I am just so happy with this girl. My 07 has 270k miles and still doing well but, this '19 is just flat out amazing. Drives like no other.

  34. For those who have this issue, try this: after cranking up the engine wait 30 seconds before put it in the gears. Some issues were existed with HD cameras long ago and before latest updates. Still after 7000 miles and latest updates, if I put the truck in any gear and driving right after cranking up the engine, the beast starts doing weird things like playing all stations at the same time, blank monitors, crazy HUD,... It takes some time for the computer to boot up properly. Driving immediately, interrupts proper boot up.

  37. I financed my 18 with GM to get a 5,000 rebate. Never made the first payment to GM. Refinanced at my local cu after about 3 weeks. As long as there is no prepayment penalty in the contract it shouldnt make a difference.

  38. GM dealers have the special tools to test the VLOM so I'd say next step would be the dealer either with the truck, or to see if they can test the VLOM for you. The GM test equipment has a solenoid control box and shop air supply. They pump 30psi to the VLOM and then use the control box to run each solenoid to test their function. When in V8 mode, the VLOM solenoids are in the closed position thus not letting oil flow to the lifter locking pins. When the solenoids are turned on, oil is sent to the lifter locking pins and disengage the pins to allow the lifter to "collapse." If you have a VLOM solenoid sticking ON, that would explain why it is collapsing the lifters thinking it is in V4 mode. The fact that you can start up and then it starts to miss, would lead be to believe that the solenoid for cylinder 4 may be sticking open and sending oil to the lifters and collapsing them for V4 function. If you aren't worried about testing the existing VLOM, its $316.68 at a local dealer p/n 12571609. You will need intake gaskets as well $111.82 p/n 89060413. Me? It wouldn't hurt to have the VLOM tested if you already have the truck apart yourself just to make sure its bad before you drop $500 on parts and its a bad lifter.
