Rain is giving us a break so I finally got a chance to wash and shine. Also, I like to take a run up the highway to blow most of the water off before drying and for some reason decided to try the trailer mode. I tried it once when I first bought the truck and noticed it shifted firmer at higher rpm but this was the first time under hard acceleration and it was like I unleashed “performance mode” as this thing lit up that on ramp like greased lightning! (I got such a jolt I went down and up several ramps just to do it a few more times! ?)2 points

The cold/snow have kept things a little slow, but I recently decided to change my cabin air filter. Had the new one sitting around the house for a while. I did the cardboard method and slid it under the old one as I took it out, and I'm very glad I did. To be honest, I'm almost positive this is the original filter and it has never been changed before (I got the truck used, not sure if previous owner knew about it). Noticed an immediate difference in the HVAC system! Also cleaned up some small headliner stains and spruced up the engine bay.2 points

More progress! Today I got the other letters cut, I got the lights all soldered up and installed into the chrome. I used shoe goo to seal up all of the openings in the plastic and cover the soldered connections. I used my silver paint pen on the edges of the plexi and was going to sand and coat them with matte clear but the nozzle broke when I popped the cap off, so that'll need to wait. Plexi cut: Soldering the LEDs together: Installed: They work!2 points

I've been watching prices for several months, and the right deal came for me to pull the trigger. Time to go from two vehicles (Grand Cherokee Overland and 2005 Silverado LT) to one. Traded in my Grand Cherokee for a CPO one-owner 2019 LTZ 5.3L with 5K miles on it. Why this one? Hard to find the color (silver or satin steel with black interior) and options I wanted (LTZ II package, Texas edition, sunroof). I was on a budget, had all of my figures known before shopping. After much negotiation, Norman Frede Chevrolet gave me a deal nobody else could touch. I love the truck so far, and am surprised how much larger (longer, wider, and especially taller) it is than by 2005 Silvy. Got 24mpg driving home at 70 to 75 mph (all highway) on mostly flat roads (Houston, TX area). Lookin forward to learning from and contributing to this great forum.1 point

All 3 plexi pieces are cut and painted with matte clear. For now they're just sitting in position for a photo op. Next step is to glue things together.1 point

@leverett.scott Thanks! I ordered the truck without see the color on a truck or car. The closest one was 400 miles away. Brownstone isn't available on the Denali either. So I ordered the SLT pretty much loaded with the big chrome bumper. I'm a little old school and love my chrome! @fly53usmc The interior is Walnut and Slate. I did find a 1500 with this interior before ordering and it looks pretty good with the brownstone. My wife couldn't get over people stopping in the dealers lot when we were picking it up. They wanted to know the color and wanted to buy it. I told the salemen put $10k in my pocket and it's for sale. LOL! Came out of the saleman's office and some guy was taking pictures of the truck. Made me feel pretty good with my choices.1 point

Dropped it off at the dealership this evening. They said there was no service bulletin for this issue and they were not aware of it. I printed off this article and left it with them since it explains it better than I can. I will have more information tomorrow. I am not aware when my truck was manufactured, but it is a 2020 model.1 point

I see the headlights being completely different on the F-150's. The LED daytime running lights are a totally different style. Other than that, I agree, there isn't much different on the front end. I've not liked the F-150 since they came out with the '97 body style.1 point

Yeah, I would love to expose the "math" they did to make that claim. I just drove to lunch and saw a new F150 parked at Starbucks on the way as I sat at the light. Literally, the only way I could tell it was "new" was by seeing the new buyer tag in the license plate spot. It otherwise looked identical to the outgoing F150. Contrast that with my backing in next to a K2 at the restaurant. I was looking out at the front ends, side-by-side, and amazed at how much of a risk Chevrolet took in the T1 front ends. Glad they did. I love it. It might be polarizing, but at least they took a real chance.1 point

That turned out really good. Nice looking truck. Thanks for the lift info.1 point

See, I have never disliked my 2019's interior. I think it strikes the balance of functional and technological pretty well. The added tech features with the AT4 (rear camera mirror, HUD, digital dash) interest me. Also, I'm growing more concerned that COVID issues will cause GM to delay their truck refresh in 2022. They've already done that with the Traverse, and they are having big issues on the SUV production. If the new interiors of the trucks will be MORE computerized (which we all think they will), that does not bode well for yet another increase in chip needs, which are already hurting badly.1 point

An unpopular opinion but the yellow bow tie looked good to me. Congrats on your truck!1 point

Compression tests are done with the engine off and you just crank it, never need to run the engine doing a compression test. But if cylinder 4 has no compression you should pull the valve cover to see what it looks like. Rare chance a valve spring broke but it's likely a failed lifter. Time to pull the cylinder head and replace some parts.1 point

I've had Katzins dealer installed on two Chevrolet trucks, and a Buick wagon. I've also had plenty of GM vehicles with factory leather. In my experience, Katzkins is better looking and more wear resistant. I highly recommend it.1 point

On another note I’m loving the new headlight harness I got from @pgamboa I can have parking light and fogs on like the rest of y’all ? this is a 2014 Silverado LT with the 2016+ LTZ frontend but with the painted bumper1 point

For AT4 - (your current equal) - the BDS 2.5" lift - is equal to a 4" lift on regular truck. The BDS 4" lift for AT4/TB - is a 6" lift on regular truck. I have AT4 with 2.5" coilover kit - it was expensive - but the upgraded shocks improve the overall ride and make the truck very offroad capable. If you have the budget you will not regret making the change. I had a 2019 AT4 with Ready Lift 2" SST level kit - the BDS set up is night and day better than that set up. Below is a photo of my truck wiht 2.5" BDS - you will see it still has some rake - if you want none you could leave out the BDS blocks and stick with the 2" blocks that came with 2" lift kit from GM you have on now, however it will be about 1/2" nose high. If you do just want to level with no shocks then Zone is a great option for you - Zone is owned by BDS - it is a similar kit with both made in the same warehouse and coilover shocks are "not" required - they offer a 4" lift for stock height - so 4" overall or a 4" to your current AT4 height - so 6" overall. Costs far less and does not require expensive Fox shocks. Links for those below: Zone 4" (4" over AT4 so 6: lift ) link: https://zoneoffroad.com/products/4-in-ifs-suspension-lift-kit-2019-2020-chevy-trail-boss-gmc-at4?variant=33699132702808 If you want to go back to "stock height" Zone also offers a 4" lift kit from stock height. Again - no shock purchase is required. Zone 4" (4" over stock, so 4: lift) - link: https://zoneoffroad.com/products/4-in-suspension-lift-kit?variant=336991326700401 point

No they are going to be saying when's the next bus because they can't afford the $100,000 sub compact electric commuter car. Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk1 point

It’s 3.5” exhaust so if you’re ordering exhaust parts that’s the size you order it for.1 point

18k depreciation sounds about right. New vehicles lose the bulk of the value the minute you sign the papers. If the dealer is offering $37k they are probably going to sell it for $42k. Another option is to walk away, keep the truck and wait for the dealer to call you back. You might get $40k if they are looking. But as it stands you went to them, the deal advantage is in their court. If they call you, the advantage is now in your court.1 point

Absolutely true and why I wrote the below quote to make that exact distinction: I can only dumb it down so far. That said I've never heard ANY trans shop outside GM think running bulk temperatures over 180 F was a good thing. Most of the damage done by heat happens to parts not the fluids. Seals, clutch material, clutch bonding, steel plate warp. Films in the TCEM The TCM which is submersed in ATF. Electronics in HOT oil. Great Job GM!! Before I did the delete on my 6L80E the fluid temperature on a summer day ran 210-230 F all day, every day. And I wasn't towing anything nor do I live in the desert. Yes I installed a new thermostat BEFORE deleting it. If your already at 210-230 F and loading up the converter that fluid in the converter can be over 300 F.1 point

Having 5 pickups, 3 straight trucks, 1 semi, 5 tractors, 5 industrial power units for pumping water thru pivots, 1 combine, 1 sprayer and more small engines than I have fingers, I would be broke if I was to have dealerships do my oil changes.1 point

I am having a noise as well. Sounds like a dying elephant. Only happen when I first drive in the morning and especially on cooler mornings. Dealer states it’s brake dust but that’s awful loud to be brake rust. Neighbors 4 houses down can hear it.1 point

You're also assuming that both batteries are good. Try putting a new battery in a remote and see if the problem is gone.1 point

Have any of you noticed that the reported fuel mileage is much higher than reality? I track every drop of fuel my truck burns and my hand calculations are always a fraction of the fuel mileage that the computer in the truck is reporting. Just for the sake of disclosure, I run 275/70/18 tires and I have used the Rough Country speedometer calibrator and my speed is dead-on with my hand-held GPS, so that's not it. Have any of you guys noticed that? Does it make you mad?0 points
