im about to get a BDS lift for my chevy and i wanted it to be green if i paint it will it all just chip off fast or should i use a special paint?

If you want to do it right, powder coat it. Will take way more abuse than just paint. Rattle can you will be touching up all the time.

Restomotive Lab's POR 15, for a more do-it-yourself approach, is a durable option to powdercoating. I'll look in the storage building for a left over can for more details, or you can google it.

Another vote for powdercoating. Not terribly expensive and really durable.
