Hi everybody!

I have been thinking about upgrading my factory radio to the OEM navigation unit. I want to keep the factory look. My truck has the Bose setup already without the rear entertainment. My problem is that I have been given multiple GM part numbers (about 4) for the radio that would fit my truck. All of these part numbers have come from different local dealers. I don't want to buy a radio and it not work with my truck. It seems like there are a lot of part numbers for the navigation units and all of the units seem the same. Is there one specific part number that I need for it to work with my truck or will any 2007-2009 Silverado navigation unit work? Also, can I install a navigation unit that supports the rear entertainment even though I don't have the rear entertainment yet? My VIN is 3GCEK33M29G105888 if someone doesn't mind looking it up for me. I'm hoping that someone has been in this same situation and can give me some good advice. I appreciate any and all help with this!

From what I understand about them...there are TWO different amps that could be in your truck.

They are "LUX" and "NON LUX"...I don't know exactly what the difference is...but the radio has to match the amp or you will have all kinds of issues.

I think Lux and Non-Lux only applies to the old GMT-800s. On the newer trucks it's either Bose or Non-Bose. I ran into the multiple part number problem also. It has to do with brand names of vehicles. For example, the exact same nav unit will have different part numbers depending on whether its in a GMC, Chevy, Hummer, etc. Also, depending on the rear seat entertainment and whether or not it will play DVDs at all gives different numbers. I don't have my paperwork handy, or I'd give you the part number that I installed in my 08, but you should be able to search on here and find some good info on this and step by step instructions. It was an easy install for me and I'm very happy with the factory clean look! Mine does support both rear seat ent. and back-up cam, neither of which I have yet but you never know so it's good to have the option. I went with a new unit from GMpartsdirect.com, so I didn't have to take it in to have it unlocked. Good luck with your project!

I would think that any Bose compatible unit would work in my truck. Another concern that I have is the Bluetooth feature. Does the bluetooth run through a separate module from the radio? I would hate to buy and install a Nav unit and my bluetooth not work.

I can tell you right now that NO, it doesn't apply to your truck. You have the Bose, that's really all that matters. The bluetooth has nothing to do with the NAV system, it's integrated into OnStar, and the VCIM for it. If you have it now, you'll still have it after installing a NAV system.

I replaced the stock CD with a nav radio in my '08 GMC. The part number is #25797978, it has the correct blue lighting, has DVD for rear entertainment, and is supposed to be ready for a rear camera.

A disappointing feature is that it won't play a DVD burned with MP3 tracks like my wife's Acadia. While virtually identical, her radio is made by Delphi, the trucks radio is made by Denso, and the software is incompatible.

If I didn't already have a nav radio, I'd be looking hard at that one. A call to the vendor could probably answer your question.

That one says you have to get a bose amp if its a non bose truck.

I have the top of the line Nav system in my 2009 CTS. While I used it all the time the first weeks the fad has worn off. I rarely used it anymore. The one in the CTS recesses into the dash. If all you are doing is riding around know territory, its a expensive toy IMO.

Some people have done this, but I think there are alot of extras that have to be added to make everything work right, like a Bose amp, different speakers, and interface equipment other wise your blinkers and chimes won't work and the radio volume will be too low. Check in the Audio/Video and Electronics section for more info. (Actually where this post should be moved to.)
