Front Bumper Cowl/valence

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Looking at a 2008 Silverado...

The truck has a lower front bumper cowl/valence (not sure what you all call it) that makes the truck have a low/weak stance. Is this easily removed? I guess I've seen trucks on the road with and without it, so I'm not sure if the trucks without it have simply unbolted it and put it in the garage attic.

Have some before and after pics if you've done this to your truck?

Thanks,

-Steve

Its very easy to take off.... two screws and it unclips. Takes a whole 3 minutes (maybe 10 minutes if you are doing it your first time..)

I took it off for the same reason, hated how low the front looked.

I took mine off, then put it back on. Not sure why, it was just there.

I did the same.... took it off, and just didn't like the look of the front without it. Looked like something was missing.

It is an aerodynamic device. Removing it might net a tiny bit worse fuel mileage but I'd bet the difference is almost none. If you like the looks with it off... take it off. Pretty much nobody but you will ever notice it.

Probably was needed to get the "fleet" of trucks to a particular economy threshold. 'Might help a tad on cooling if you were in a marginal situation. I always called this part a "spoiler"..

Dump It! I removed mine and after the 2" leveling kit I love the new stance. My friends said it looks more ike a 3/4 ton from the front....

:D mines been off as much as it's been on. Don't see any difference other than styling. Its on right now.

Mine's up in the rafters of the garage.

A truck front end shouldn't drag on a curb or stop when parking.

It's just not natural......
