Tpms Re-learn Is Junk

I've tried and tried. Did a search and followed every tip and the damn things still will not re-learn. I've tried letting air out, I've tried putting air in, I've tried different air pressures, I've tried driving the truck to get the tires hot, I've even tried taking the guts out of the valve stem and nothing will work. I can't take it to the dealer anymore to do free now that the bumper to bumper warranty is out and they want $85 bucks to do it now. In almost 4 years I've never been able to reset it manually. Everyone I know that has this on their truck can't do it. Sorry about the bitching, but I just had to vent a little. Have a great day everybody!

Take your truck to the local tire shop. They might or might not charge you. I know my local tire store charges 5$ for all 4 tires. You can also a tool to reset the TPMS. Do a search on this site should be able to find the post.

Wonder why, I've never had a problem. I rotate my tires every 5000 miles and re-do the re-learn without fail.

No problem with my 08, but we couldn't get my friends 07 to work.

Thanks for your reply JFM 1982. The shops around here want $20-$25 to do it. It's not about the money, it's about the thing not working. The dealership told me to just bring it to them when I wanted it reset and not worry about having it fixed, but after the warranty

went out then they wanted some money. I guess it's my fault for trusting what they said.

After I had my tires changed to the factory wheels a couple months ago I failed to give them the original remote so they couldn't do it for me. Neglected to do it for a while and just lived with the light. Finally did it one day and got it on the first try from memory of what I've read on here. Worked flawlessly for me!

I haven't been able to reset my original 07 TPMS with the procedure. I bought a used set of TPMS for my wheels. I never had any problems reseting these one. The TPMS that I got on ebay are the new part number.

I wonder if it has something to do with the TPMS sensors? I have a '07 that had the factory 18s. I tried on 4 different occasions to relearn after rotating the tires. All 4 times, at best, I could get the front two wheels learned and then it would stop and lock up, telling me to service the TPMS system. 4 trips to the dealer, but thankfully they never charged me.

Anyway, last week I downsized to a set of '09 17s with the '09 sensors already installed. Reluctantly, I thought I'd give it one try just to get the stupid warning off. I tried to learn the new sensors and it worked the very first time. Only had to bleed the air for like 8-10 seconds on each wheel. Worked perfectly. Reset all sensors in less than 90 seconds.

Just a thought but maybe it has something to do with the sensors in the 07s? They looked the same, but who knows?

If I recall correctly, the TPMS batteries in each unit are only good for 3-4 years. So I would make a guess that some of you have dead batteries in your 07 models. Just a thought. Good luck!

For what its worth, I just traded my 07 off 2 months ago. And the whole 2.5 years I owned it, I did the TPMS relearn every time I rotated the tires. They were rotated every 5-6000 miles and it had 45k on the clock at trade in. Never had a single problem, re-learn worked first try every time for.

I can't get my 07 Silverado or her 07 Impala to reset.

And tire shops around here want $15 or $20 to do it. :D

I've seriously considered buying the programming tool to do it myself before.

Or something similar. It shouldn't be such a big frickin deal. :D

I've never had a problem with my TPMS. The stock sensors worked fine as well as the 2 different sets of sensors i've bought off of Ebay.

I really wish that one of you guys who have issues with it lived closer that way i can give it a shot and see if some trucks really do just not work, or if there's some technique involved..

I think you need a trip to Nova Scotia! Come on up for a vacation... I'll give ya a beer or two just so you could have a kick at mine as well since I can also get to two front tires to sense but not the back ones!

Mine were easy to do with new non-OEM sensors in new tires. I think you have some dead batteries or bad sensors or something too. You sure you're following the directions in the owners manual to a T?
