Anybody Else Get This?

anybody get an odd noise when stopped in gear on their gmt-800s? like a grumbling, spinning sound?

Only does it in gear? (for sure not one of the instrument panel stepper motors or one of the actuators in the HVAC system)? Sometimes those things can sound like spinning, but it's clearly an interior noise. Does it sound like inside or outside the cab?

ive never noticed one. have you tried holding the brake and pushing the gas pedal a little to see what happens when the rpms go up?

the sound to me seems to come from lower center dash or near the bellhouseing of the trans..i asked a few friends with 800s if they have the sound, and they do ranging a from a 99 gmt-800 to a 04 gmt-800..guages and hvac do make noises but this is a constant humming while holding the brake pedal in gear

Nothing like that on mine (2006). Other than occasional gurgling from the HVAC system when the A/C is on. The only other noise that seems to come and go is subtle power steering pump whine at low RPMs, which disappears around 30 MPH. This while is only occasional.

yes its a hard noise to explain, it reminds me of a pump churning...like a very low spinning sound

Its your HVAC fan. Even when the system is off the fan still runs.

Its a throwback to the GM of old with the "flow thru ventilation"

Yes ...NO ?????????

um i don't think its the fan, as i can put my hand to the vents and not feel any sort of air movement unless i'm flying down the highway with the fan off
