Wanted: Mud Tires

Everyone will have their own opinions and I want to hear 'em.

I am looking for a Meaty 315/75-16 mud tire that works well off-road and will get 40K miles with regular rotations.

Pro Comps are out. Swampers are out too.

Considering BFG mud KM2, Hankook Dynapro MT, and a couple others :hmm:.

you can find most of the mud tires on various websites.search it on ebay if they are available, or go on websites such as goodyear or michelin,etc you could find it over there according to your requirements also.

Thanks, but I am looking for user feedback. Every manufacturer will tell you their tire is the best, I am already familiar with the available product lines.

I had a set of 315 Mickey Thompson Baja Claws. They rode great. Made a little noise, which is to be expected. Were wearing great. Don't know the full extent of the milage on them cause I sold the truck to buy my new one.

BFG KM2's. Best mileage out of any mud tire and good ride quality to boot.

I had a set of the Kumho MT kl-71 tires on another truck I owned and they were a great looking tire tat rode decent for a mud tire, and with spending alot of its life pavement as it was my daily driver at the time, I got alittle over 48K out of them with regular rotation and keeping a good eye on the pressures. Also, haven't used them myself, but see ALOT of guys running the Goodyear Duratracs, hopefully someone can chime in on them.

Have a set of 285 Goodyear Duratracs on my current truck. Like them so far. Only have a couple thousand miles on them so far. Hoping for a big nasty snow so I can try them out! Haven't had them in the mud, however I have a 3/4 crew cab long bed with 8.1 and Allison that weighs 7200 lbs + so I'm not really looking to take it mudding. 2 other guys here at the shop have them on their 3/4s and say they are wearing great and go good in snow.

i know you said pro-comps were out but i am still gonna give my .02 cents anyway, i was gonna say i had a set of pro-comp mud terrain tires, they were 31x10.5x15 on my jeep comanche but they were awesome in the mud, i got about 40 000 km on mine and they have never went flat, or anything, they chew in the mud pretty good, a tad noisy on the highway but not too bad, i ran em across canada and back, packing a camper and they still have 60% tread left, seem to last a while, thats just my thoughts, how come you don't want pro-comps?

Toyo M/T is a great all around tire. Fairly aggressive looks, not to loud at freeway speeds, does great in mud, does great in snow, good wet traction and I should get 40k miles pretty easy.

come to think of it, i had fairly decent luck with the Toyo M-55 tire, fairly aggressive and was decent on raod, they will last a friggin life time, really hard rubber compound, not the best for winter, but they will last forever in the mud/gravel/highway and they squeal really fierce in a burn out

Got the KM2's. I finally got to try them out this weekend while duck hunting. It rained 2-3" the night before we went out. Riding down a soppy, clay field road and the tires never looked back. They pulled good and cleaned out well too. No complaints here... Plus they ride smooth and are pretty quiet overall.

I had procomp AT and then bought xterrains.

The ATs lasted 50k, but 3 of the four tires warped on their own and the sidewalls on two of them got concave impressions.

I rotate my tires every 5 and I keep them properly inflated.

The xterrains didn't work well and wore out really fast.

Im just not a fan.

I am currently looking and loving the Cooper discoverer STT , and the mickey thompson mtz....

 

The stt is at top of my list tho..

 

bfg km2 was what i use to want but then heard it was a softer tire that will wear faster.

Not the truth, imo. The Cooper is a long wear tire because the rubber they are made out of and their overall construction is like a rock. The BFG's ride better, look better and last just as long as the Coopers.

I went from the bfg's to the the toyos and have been very happy so far. Both are great tires, but the toyo seems better on road and equally competent off road. Either tire would be a good choice.
