This Might Be A Dumb Question But...

Ok so 2 years ago I bought a Optima Red top battery for my 03 Yukon XL and now it will barely hold a charge over night. So I'm if anyone has any suggestions on batteries. I park outside almost all the time, I live in MN so it gets cold and I also have a sub in the back, which I'm sure doesnt help my current situation. I know this sounds dumb but I could use some help on this situation, Im getting sick of having to get a jump after a cold night! I'm asking for help on this situation because I was told that Optima were the best battery around and only 2 years later it barely works.

Two years to kill a battery? Before you replace it, you better check your charging system and see if you have any voltage draws while the vehicle is off.

I have had great experiences with both Optima and the Kirkland (Costco) brands, but no battery will last if the alternator, cables, wiring, connections, etc, are bad.

The first question I will ask is how many times have you killed the battery playing the stereo with the truck off? How big of an amp do you have?

As mentioned, maybe it's a charging issue and you need a higher output alternator if you have never killed the battery.

I seem to have good luck with the stock delco batteries also, just never checked to see how much they are when I need a new one. Usually get either a Diehard or Duralast.

6 year old ac delco  i'm sold

I agree. The Delcos work well. Have used Diehards and Optimas before and haven't noticed any difference. Not worth the extra cost.

Optima is now a pile a JUNK. The company that originally made the Optima is called Odyssey. When they first came out with it, it BEASTED all other batteries. But sadly the optima is now made overseas, and now nothing is left but all the hype.

If you want an amazing AGM battery, Odyssey now makes their own batteries, and they're amazing to say the least.

After that, +1 Interstate and +1 AC Delco.
