I did this mainly because I hated the way the hung out in space behind the rear tire with not even a pretty chrome tip. So i cut it off. Right behind the last hanger with a downward slant. Looks better, which is what i wanted, but i was hoping for a little more sound and didn't really get anything. Its all good.

Don't mind the swirls, OUCH.

A Porter Cable, some Adams pads and swirl & haze remover will knock those swirls out.

Much better. Chrome tips look like hammered crap after a few weeks. I dumped mine right after the axle.

Thanks for the replies, I'm happy with it.

This may be temporary untill I get a magnaflow but it will likely turn out about the same place. I had one set of chrome tips on my last truck and they are definitly more of a pain than pretty.

As for the swirls: I'm not doing anything to them till spring. I take care when washing but i can't avoid it. I bought an extra paint protection and warranty with the truck so in the spring I will see if it was worth the money. Having had a black truck before, i asked about that covering marring from washing and they said it would be covered. I read the contract very close. That doesn't mean i read the same thing they did. Polishing however voids the warranty. If that doesn't pan out I will hit you up for more tips.

I wouldn't be worried near as much about the swirls as I would that ugly human resembling stain in the first pic.

I agree. I think those cheap little screw on chrome tips are the ugliest crap. That looks pretty good for a free mod.

When I get my exhaust done I will defiantly have mine dropped by the axle, sounds good and no chrome!
