How Much Would It Be To Fix?

Recommended Posts

My girlfriend accidentally closed the gate on the side and it actually got dented. How much would it be to fix and how can I get it fixed. She wants to pay to fix it but I need to find out how much it would be.

You probably shouldn't have your girlfriend pay to fix your truck... especially around Valentine's Day!

That might be an indicator of the relationship... whether you feel she should pay for the dent or not.

I would never think of making my other half pay for a dent to my truck whether they dented it or not, but I know I have a keeper.

Although, as a previous poster said, a 3 way and strippers might sure be a better way to spend the money!

Pay for it yourself man, geeze, show at least a little class. This isn't one of your high school pals that was messing around and broke something of yours . This is potentially your future wife.

Pay for it your self and tell her not to worry about it.. Think about the big picture ..

And if she's not worth paying for it for her, then breakup with her

Funny to see some responses saying don't make her pay for it...so I would assume then if he dented her vehicle she should pay for it ???

But, only after the 3 way and strippers!!!

If it were me....I'd pay for it if it were her car, or mine....maybe my lady is too spoiled, she can do anything she wants, and I do what I'm told....been that way for 30+ years

That dent doesn't look to bad. Doesn't look like any paint is damaged from your pictures, it should pop right out BUT there is a nice body line on the fender. I would have it done at a good body shop and forget the "paintless removal". Should run you around $200 or less.

She feels bad about it, we are going to get it fixed. Hope the paintless dent removal works, I also received one of my shocks from Stylin Trucks. After I get both my shocks, I need to get the rear flip kit & front drop spindels & lowering coil springs. Im going for a 4/6 drop.

get a 2x4, lay it against the OUTSIDE of the truck and get a hammer with a big flat head on it that is smooth. carefully hold the board over the dent on the inside... use the hammer on the outside of the quarter panel right NEXT to the dent and it'll come right out... shouldn't take too much tapping with the hammer...

a piece of flat stock steel would work better on the inside instead of the 2x4 fyi... you can't imagine how easy it is to flatten out the crease and you mess up the paint if you do it right...

the key is to let the flat stock/board do the work by using the hammer next to the dent. hitting the dent with a hammer is actually the opposite of what you want to do because it's a point blow... but tapping next to the crease the metal is still strong and the tapping causes the flat stock to flatten the crease out, it's pretty cool, you can practice on flashing fyi.

you can probably get the metal working hammers and dolly's at harbor freight or something.

just call your insurance company and tell them the truth. it should be covered by your comprehensive, it wasn't motor vehicle related.. i carry a $200 deductible for the comp "just in case"... good luck.
