Like I said I am new to Chevy. I have been a die hard FORD guy my whole life but recently switched because I couldn't pass up the deal i got. I am looking to do a lot of upgrades to the truck over the next few months and thought I would get some advice from long time Chevy guys on the best products for the money and proper installations. First off my truck is a 2011 Silverado 1500 LT crew cab with the 5.3 V8. The first two things I want to do is a cold air intake and exhaust. I have been looking at many products but am leaning to Banks RAI and Banks single side exhaust. Any thoughts and comments would be greatly appreciated.

Well welcome aboard.

I would hold off on the CAI. It truly doesn't do much without a heavily modded truck. The stock air intake setup is already pretty decent. If I were you I would get the exhaust that you want, and only get a CAI if you're planning on doing a custom tune. OR, take the CAI money and put it towards the Autocal from Blackbear Performance. Tons of people including myself have been tuned by Justin at Blackbear (he has tuned 2 of my trucks) and he can turn the truck completely around and you will not be disappointed at all. Definitely the best bang for your buck on these trucks. They are a supporting vendor on here and their site is

Thanks for the info Josh. I am planning on doing a tune and was looking at nelson performance for it but will look into blackbear as well. Also how do you like your rc leveling kit? I plan on doing this as well when I get my new rims and tires. Just wondering if the higher priced kits are any better?

Congrats on the new truck and Welcome to the site.

Obviously Nelsons a good tuner, but quite frankly... Blackbear will provide a good tune as well. I've had 2 so far and will continue to get them as long as I own trucks from him. Also, the 2" RC leveling kit is a breeze to install and does just that. It dang near levels the truck. There's no issues with ride either. If you look at the other kits, there all just spacers whether you stick it on the top, bottom or both. Easiest is the bottom :dunno: I've had it installed on 2 trucks without issue.

With the leveling kit do I need to get an alignment after?
