Got a brake controller, newbie questions

So I bought a Draw-Tite Intella-Stop Ultra 20185 brake controller, looks like a re-branded prodigy and the guy at the store said it was a prodigy.

Anyways I got a question: I plan on towing a small travel trailer (about 18 feet) and on the box it says (not designed for electric/hydraulic brake systems) what does that mean? I though alot of trailers had either electric brakes or the kind that is activated by the action of the trailer pushing towards the truck while braking.

Did I mess up? Are most trailers electric/hydraulic? Or electric? Sorry if I sound like a complete newbie but I want to make sure I didn't waste my money on something that won't help me.

Most camper trailers are electric you made a good choice if that is a prodigy. I had a prodigy and it worked great and it even told you if you had a wiring problem with a code that would come up. It looks like Draw tite just put their name on it.

Don't quote me on this because I am not sure but I believe some trailers have electric brakes and other have electric over hydraulic. The electric brakes use electric all the way to the brakes and the electricity applies the brakes to stop. The other type, electric over hydraulic, uses electric to activate a hydraulic system and the hydraulic fluid actually activates the brakes. As far as I know the straight electric brakes are the more common, and are the only ones I have come across when towing different campers, dump trailers, and utility trailers. But like I said at the beginning of the post I am not sure and don't take this as being 100% true

Thanks for the replies from what I gather from people I've asked, it seems only bigger trailers use electric/hydraulic and the kind of trailers I'll be towing use just electric.

Now to get a b & m cooler for the transmission...
