Is the “ Z71 off-road suspension package" worth it ???

A z71 package gives you 46 mm gas shocks, 36 mm front stabilizer bar and underbody shield a high capacity air cleaner, maybe the z71 emblem ,hill descent control, recovery hooks and some other things called jumpers.l

Chevy offered this z71 in a two wheel drive in 2007 for the first time. I always considered it a heavy 1/2 ton which you used to be able to purchase back in the day. I have always tried to purchase as much truck as I could afford because the next vehicle was a lot more for the same thing. Buying a nice regular cab is getting harder and probably will be unavailable in a few years, who wants all those doors on a pickup.

I have a 4x4 and z71 06 Silverado. Only difference I feel in the trucks is the z71 is a slight rougher stiffer ride. Both ride well. 4x4 gets a slightly more .9 MPG more but I like both rides. Your choice on what makes you happy on appearance and ride.

Yes, the Z71 package is worth the money, especially becuase Z71 equipped trucks seem to have better resale value. What is a waste of money in my book is the Z71 "appearance package'.

Please explain how the Appearance Package is a waste of money???? That's a terrible statement.

 

The painted, color matched front end, painted doir handles, painted mirrors, chrome tow hooks, Chevrolet door sill plates, Z71 emblem with carbon fiber pattern on the gauge cluster, larger Z71 bed decals, 18" wheels with Bridgestone AT tires and Rancho branded shocks.

Yup waste of money.

 

The Appearance Package was well worth the $800 or so when I bought my truck in 2009.

My 04 had Z71 with 17" wheels, rode amazing. My 11 does not have , rides equal to the 04. Could this be front sway bar location and struts vs torsion bars?

 

When I replace the 11, for me 17" wheels are what I am looking for, no interest or use for anything bigger.
