Reinstalling Air Dam

Has anyone ever successfully put theirs back on? I'm going on a few road trips next week, so I'm wanting it back on for the gas mileage benefits. I spent 45 minutes yesterday trying to get mine back on, using all of my body's force trying to get those clips back in and they just will not go. The user's manual says to just push it back on, but that's not possible. Does anyone have any tips or tricks that they've used?

Hmm, I was thinking of putting mine back on before my 3000 mile road trip. I will let you know if I have any issues putting mine back on.

I really doubt you'll see anything meaningful from reinstalling it. Mine has been off since the first weekend I had the truck.

Mine went back on with no problems. I never noticed any mpg loss (when taking it off) and therefore no increase (when putting it back on).

Well, it has the biggest effect at higher speeds, and the last road trip I took I averaged in the 23mpg range on two different tanks of gas (wind was negligible, as was terrain). I didn't notice any change when I took it off, since it was during my normal commute periods which is all city driving and terrible gas mileage anyway. But this is beside the point, and not the argument that I wanted to get into in the thread. Thanks for the thoughts so far, though.

Well, nevermind. I just tried it again and it went back on without much of a fight.

It was probably the extra beer the second time. That always fixes it. :driving:

It's a PITA. You have to slide it into palce first, then it will pop back in. Notice how the holes start off larger (closest to the headlight) then tapers a bit. It's a like of slide and lock to get it back on. At least that's how it was on my 08 when I had to remove my CAI and put my stock air box. HTH.

Glad to hear you got it back on. I've had mine off and on several times without any problems. Couldn't tell you any special tricks other than start at one side and work your way to the other. :dunno:
