Probably going to jinx myself on this one but I'm really surprised my trans hasn't given me more fuss. 70k miles on it and it has definitely been used like an HD truck, plus I have a lead foot and it's tuned. I've had a few odd shifts here and there but nothing I can't live with

Did nothing today and still doing nothing, torqued my back yesterday and was horizontal all day, starting to get pins and needles in my toes so looking good for feeling my legs again tomorrow. Meanwhile reading forum, doing Sudoku, looking at the walls. My eyes haven't stopped watering since I felt the lightning strike to my back, even if the excruciating pain is gone. Must have gone through a box of tissues today. Probably the tear reservoir will run dry soon. I hope!

I opened the garage door and we watched the blizzard for a bit, I washed her two days ago; there wasn't anything I needed out there, so I kept the salt and crap off her.

I downloaded the Leap 42.3 iso. Mmm..bad checksum... No problem, I used touch and rsync to get the corrections. (Thanks, University of Waterloo.) Sha256summed it...all good now,

Then I listened to some Stravinsky while I burned the image and installed it; that makes my daily driver a quintuple-boot system. Ha! With the snow coming in sideways, it was just the right kind of day for it.

Hauled this home. Will be using to carry baseball gear this spring and summer so I don't have to load and unload my truck everyday

I've been driving her to work more often and during today's lunch I drove through some desert trails around work. It's a lot of fun and kind of gives me the itch for a truck that can properly handle light trails/desert running.

Well the truck has been in the shop and needs a new torque converter and TCM solenoid. Hope to have it back mid week. At least they gave me a free rental.

Went out to clean up from the additional 3" we got last night, in addition to the foot we got Thursday. Another foot coming tomorrow, so decided to shovel the barn roof. Over 1k sq.ft. total. Thankfully the snow was powder, but it's still a ball-busting job. Took a little over an hour to get that done.

After I got off the roof, I jump in the '94 S10 plow truck, push in the clutch, turn the key - nothing. WTF. Try again ... still nothing ... except now I feel pressure bleeding off the clutch. F*@$!!! 2 days ago the thing started and ran perfect! WTF!!! Of course the truck is parked right next to a wooden stake I spray painted fluorescent orange to locate where the driveway ends, so I don't tear up the grass with the plow - it's right in the friggin way. Had to shovel a foot of snow out from around it, then drag my jack through all the snow I just shoveled off the GD roof. Rolled out my grease carpet and got to work. Whacked starter with a pipe and hammer a few times, then turned engine over using the alternator nut - fired right up. One problem down. Starter probably on it's way out from repeated abuse cranking in gear, thanks to the constant clutch problems. Checked the compression fitting on the clutch line - was leaking. I cranked down on it so tight I thought I'd bust it, but it worked. Took twice as long this time to get pedal. I jammed it in gear and just about drove right across the street into the woods. Took a good half hour of pumping to finally be able to drive the POS.

GRRR!!!! Always friggin something around here!! :banghead::banghead::banghead::shakehead:

Good to know lol

Ryan B.

I remember reading a post from someone that owned their own mechanic shop that said he had two of his guys stay(don't remember if it was a 900 or K2) and help one day and they hated the whole thing and it took them WAY too long. Must be a GM design problem, because katskinz (or someone) has a video of a last gen Mustang install that looks very easy.

Edit:

And looking at the date I really haven't been in this thread in a while

Drove mine to my future mother in laws to help her move some things. Got a scan captured on the way. Now I just need to come up with the money for the actual tune.

    • Because that is IDIOTIC, much like this question. They've already been forced to do it by past administrations - why would you roll that back when it's a GOOD thing?  WHO IS ARGUING FOR LOWER MILEAGE???? 😂  NOBODY IS!!   I'm certainly not! What I want is RELIABLE vehicles again that are worth the price paid!    I don't get your logic here ...   In 2003 I paid $2,200 for our '86 Grand Marquis. It's STILL running and I've never been inside the engine, aside for the timing cover since it was leaking, so I threw a new timing set in since that makes sense. Transmission is ORIGINAL. Electric pump in the gas tank is ORIGINAL. Rear end is ORIGINAL. I'd have to hit my head REAL hard to want to pay $60k or more for a car that still can't come close to the comfort, seating and storage space, or reliability of this one. Nothing is even in the ball park! Hundreds of thousands of brands and models have been built and sent to the crusher while this one keeps on going!   https://postimg.cc/Z9XRrCSg   I've got a whole fleet of cars, motorcycles, and a truck close to this age for summer and winter. No one could pay me enough to buy anything built this century. I have zero use for any it.
    • Since I'm the one who has to fix them when they break, I'll take vehicles over 30 years old all day, EVERY day, over ANY modern crap. Have you attempted any repairs on anything built after 2006? It's a friggin nightmare, and gets worse the newer the model year.    If I had the will or desire, I can make any car of any age outside of a Model T (I don't have THAT much will ...) just as powerful, comfortable, and have all the tech the new stuff does, and get pretty close in mileage, too. I prefer SIMPLICITY. The less the vehicle has, the less to fix WHEN it breaks, not IF.   I'm glad you snot-nosed punks don't like them. More for us, plus that keeps the prices from climbing more than they already have.👍
    • Bringing this thread back on topic. I just noticed the incredible lack of bright chrome across the entire new lineup. Even the Denali has tinted the brightwork in the grille and has none elsewhere. None of them have chrome bumpers. As far as I can tell there aren't even chrome mirror caps. I'm curious if this also happens out back? Are there no chrome rear bumpers either? This is quite the departure for GMC.
