Is it possible for me to replace the front shocks on my 2007 silverado classic 2wd truck while it is sitting on ramps? I dont have a working jack and i want to know if I can safely change my front shocks with the truck on drive on ramps. Plus how do I change these shocks? Im putting Monroe Reflex shocks

I dont know about your question but you should have a jack that came with your truck to change the spare tire. On my single cab it is behind the seat. If I had to take a guess I think you would have to take the load off the shock to safely change it but I dont know what I am really talking about .

I think you'll find that you will want to remove your front tires for clearance issues. Is it possible? Maybe, but I think it'll be a bigger pain than it's worth. It's pretty close quarters in there. Just my thoughts. If you have a jack and can get a hold of a couple of jack stands it's not a bad job once you take a look see at what needs to be done. Just don't cut the tie that keep the shock collapsed until you are ready to install and double check that all hardware is tight and torqued.

Not easily possible. The shock will be compressed so removing the bolt will be tough if not impossible to do safely. Then compressing the new shock will be hard as well.

I agree with Mike.

Not possible if the wheel is sitting on a ramp.

Yes but chock the rear tires. The shocks are easy to do. 1 nut on top requires 2 wrenches and 2 bolts on the bottom. Do the but on top first.

I'd spend the money, buy a new 3 ton jack and do it right. That's just not safe the way you want to do it

I'll just take it to my mechanic. Next time i will replace the shocks with Bilsteins at 65k with all the proper tools. The rears were a breeze. I did however jacked it up and placed it on stands. Too bad my hydraulic jack is not working.

The fronts are easy. Took an hr and a half to do all 4 and that was with messin around

I wish they'd left the front the same as the 400's. I hate the through the mount style. The rear took me ten minutes for both.

Why on earth would you prefer torsion bars? The strut/coil is better in every way I can think of.
