Not my first choice of wheels. I see vehicles ALL THE TIME here with these HUGE wheels and tiny rubber band tires...no thanks. I like having wheels/tires that are proportionate to the vehicle size. Plus I tow/haul quite a bit, I need side walls.

This picture is as annoying to the eyes as is a loud exhaust to the ears.

One called me "intolerant" because I don't like loud exhausts.

But it is the same as it is with the wheels on this car.

It is just noise. But not sound!

so long

I like to think my exhaust is loud enough to be heard, but quiet enough to be heard as music. I've seen a couple ricer camaros and mustangs here that sound like 4-bangers, brand new. I guess it's what the owner likes...

But there should be a law about those stupid rims.

I see nothing wrong with someone customizing their car to what they like, we all do it.. Sure rims like that are a bit extreme but it's what he/she likes they aren't hurting anyone. I like big tires and loud exhaust I don't expect everyone to feel the same and I will continue to like it.

But why do they have to ruin a classic muscle car with them. Why cant they get a 90s something Caddy, lincoln, or Crown Vic to do that to. It hurts my heart to see something like that.

I dont mind when people put 20s on classic muscle, but you need to stick with the original styling somewhat when selecting wheels. But, thats JMO, which probably aint worth much.

I agree that anyone should have the right to do anything they want... and I have the right to think it looks like sh*t. Which that does.

They aren't ruining the car, wheels are simple bolt on items. They can be removed easily. It is not like they cut the roof off of it and put a garden shed in its place. Really do not understand why some get so upset about an inanimate object.

i dont know if anyone has ridden in a vehicle with rims like that...all handling characteristics and ride characteristics are completely thrown out the door.

Wrong, those are not simple bolt on rims. You would have to modify the suspension to fit em. Which would make it ride even worse.

And it's not an inanimate object, it's a CAR.

You should see some of the "lifted" suspension on cars around my area! Most of them have terrible hack jobs that can't be safe for road use just so they can fit 30 inch wheels on a crown vic.

I am not a fan at all of doing this type of mod, mostly because it looks like sh!t. But I really could care less as long as they did it safely. But I doubt that will ever happen seeing that most of them are hood rats that blatantly don't care about the safety of other people on the road!

    • Yep! This should be a pin somewhere as @pgamboa really dives into all of this. Thanks for reposting the link!
    • I did the new thermostat after doing a 'flip' for a year. Runs as cool one way as the other in the summer but in the winter there is a bit of a floor. Yellow with the new 70 C thermostat. My data over the life of the unit to date. Still need more cooler. Anyway that floor helped both winter fuel economy and shift quality in the winter. I found it a good balance.
    • Evan Williams Bottled in Bond   So pouring the last of a bottle of Evan Williams Black label last night I set off the the state store for a refill only to be denied the by an empty shelf. Rats.    What the did have was a bottle of Evan Williams Bottled in Bond. 100 proof. Hum, a few bucks more but a known distiller. Lets have a swing at it. ( I have before )    Cracked it open and pour a serving over ice. Hum.... more heat, yes. More alcohol naturally. But the barreling not the proof brings the taste and this one came up short.    Oh is was familiar but the heat ran the barrel over like a Peterbilt runs over a squirrel. Could use a heavier toasting of the oak me thinks or perhaps a longer barreling. Who knows. But what I can say is ice or a water back isn't the answer. What kills one kills them both. Sad. It is a pleasant drink....if you have little to compare it to.
    • I've had exactly one set of Bridgestone. Lasted five year and 125,000 miles and had I known better 15oK would have been a cake walk. I would have bought a like set had they not tripled in price since the first set. I removed them at said mileage with 5/32" remaining in dead even wear all four. They were fuel efficient, quite, comfortable and predictable.    Early on I got a very good alignment checked at least once a year, sometimes twice; kept the tires properly inflated, balanced and rotated. And I've found that many a tire issue can be avoided with great maintenance practices. Lot's of tire dealers will do rotation and balance (simple) for free for as long as you own the tire they sold you so no excuse not to.    Bead prep, alloy integrity and stem health have a huge impact on inflation stability. There are more mountings done poorly that perfectly. Finding a good tire guy is gold and as important as finding a tire you like.    That 3X price increase now two sets of "other tires' later is starting look like a bargain.      Bad maintenance kills more tires than bad tires.
    • Atlas, you kill me As aggravating as a project like this can be you have been unable to hide your fascination with learning and using that angst against this beast like a Ninjitsu Master. It amuses you, admit it now.      BTW, love your writing style. 😉
