Our dog Cooper, Humane Society Rescue, but an amazing dog, caught a robin on take off yesterday, actually gave it up when i said drop, impressed me. They estimated him about 2 years old in July, well trained, someone lost an awesome black lab.

Those are some beautiful dogs. Ours is a family pet, and has never been worked as a hunter/retriever, but she has a strong instinct for it. Great dog, and great w/ frisbee, or retrieving anything else that you want to work her with. She more-or-less trained me, rather than the other way around. Crazy dog will find a rock thrown deep into the woods, if she has put her mouth on it even once, and will come bolting from the other side of the house if she hears *anything* thrown. Fun, fun, fun...

I think she's almost 1 yr old in this picture... which was ~2 yrs ago. I haven't taken any good ones since :(

Here's my two crazy Brttanys. Neither dog has been well trained, all my fault as they come from pretty decent bloodlines. The female (longer haired) has had ACL surgery so she's slowed down a lot. She gets real excited about going hunting and has no issues with gunshots, but doesn't use her nose worth a crap. The male (shorter haired) has a huge bird drive, uses his nose well, points on instinct, and comes running between my legs when I shoot. I had them both with me last winter when I finally found a good covey of quail and shot one. The quail have been sparse in our area but due to some cutovers in our hunting area starting to grow up, the numbers are getting much better.

A Boykin is supposed to be a loyal companion and versatile dog. Originally bred down in Geogia?

It's not to bad. Everybody has been mostly killing woodies and mabe some mallards and teal. It needs to get colder to push them down here! Today was short sleave and shorts weather!

What kinds of ducks are we talking about?

Hey Ryan, You gonna bail me outta jail when they arrest me for hunting in city limits? LOL I'm hoping this weather pushes some birds down. I'm thinking hard about taking an hour + drive to Vincinnes and getting on the wabash river. From what I hear there are more birds to our west.
