Splash Guards/ Mud Flaps

I have 2012 Sierra that did not come with splash guards. I am not a fan of the way they look but absolutely need them to protect my paint since the truck does see gravel roads.

 

I'm looking at them on gmpartsdirect and there are a few options and I'm on the fence of what to order. I'm leaning towards these.

The molded ones might look nicer but it looks like they could hold dirt and salt under them. The painted ones would probably look best.

 

I am looking for opinions and pictures before I buy something. Thanks

I didn't see a picture for those. The ones i ordered from gm had the gold bowties and while i didn't like them out of the box I really liked after installation. Oh and by the way they will require drilling holes into the sheet metal for the rears so make sure you're comfortable with that first. As for rust I use gm super lube on the bolts and coat the drilled holes before sending in the screws.

I had the Husky mud guards on my '07 VortecMax, I was very pleased with them. I liked how they were thick or dimensional all the way to the bottom of them instead of getting thin like a mudflap at the bottom.

The GM molded splash guards I have include a rubber gasket that goes against the paint instead of the hard plastic. They were in the $40-$50 range per pair. The fronts are plain and the rear have the GMC logo (or Bowtie) for the Chevy version.

I have been happy with the Weathertech mud flaps/splash gaurds. They are plain black, with a no drill install for both the F&R

 

Another suggestion from what I have read here on GM-Trucks is that even with mud flaps you may be interested in a set of nerf/step bars to help protect as well. After reading that ( can't remember where or when ) I got a set of step bars as well.

I have a set of Cabelas ones, I think weather tech or husky makes them. Cheap and they've held up great, only complaint is they seem to "hold" dust.

 

I've been contemplating steps too... I'll have to if I ever bite the bullet and lift.

just ordered some weathertechs from ebay, i like the fact they use existing mounting holes, no drilling

Go with the weathertech no drills. You will happy with them. Drilling holes not matter what always causes rust. You can put 3m under them to stop chaffing.

Yeah not too crazy about drilling holes. Does anyone have any experience with the weather techs and how well they hold up if they get packed with snow and slush? How are they attached with no drilling?

I just looked them up to see how they mount, seems like a pretty slick setup as long as their durability matches up with the regular drill mounted setup.

Unless you mud a lot, no drill ones should be alright.
