Switched Over To Classic Style

After having the oil consumption issue, the dreaded drivetrain clunk and the fact of paying on a much more expensive truck that I rarely drove I decided to sell the 07 Sierra and moved into a 98 Silverado. I have always loved the looks of this body style and purchased this one from it's 2nd owner. The truck has been well cared for and garage kept, looks pretty good for 188000 miles not to mention no oil consumption or drivetrain clunk lol!

I kept my newly installed 285-70-17 Duratracs from the 07 and purchased some Vision warrior wheels and mounted them up. I added a 2" add a leaf and cranked my torsion bars a little to get the stance I wanted. I also added a 7 pin trailer connector on the back for my trailer lights and brakes, couldn't find a decent place to mount a bracket so I removed one of my license plate lights and installed it there. I spot welded a small piece of flat stock behind the hole so the pilot bit on my hole saw had a place to grab.

Thanks I'm pretty pleased with it so far, I figured worst case senario is I have to replace the engine or tranny someday but the tried and true 350's are easy to find along with the 4l60E trannys.

IMO the OBS are the best looking trucks made, ever. After all, the did make the almost exact same style for 10 years. That one looks really nice, although I have to say rims > 16" don't look right, but JMO. Good find!!

Nice truck, really liked that body style. I was a senior in high school in 98 and wanted one so bad. Then in 2000 I ended up with a 2000 instead

whats the inside of those trucks look like are they like the gmt 800s

I like the style of the interior better in my 1990 than most vehicles. The later 400's aren't bad either.

I like the interior the thing I miss the most though is the nice big flip down center arm rest I had in the Sierra with the 3 cup holders. I may try to retro fit one of those in this truck. Interior pics coming soon.

My favorite trucks of all time! Great find, there aren't many in that good of shape around anymore. If I could find one that clean I'd unload my truck on it in a heartbeat, but I'm up in the snowbelt and everyone knows about the dreaded GMT 400 rust issues.

I'm very pleased with it so far, I've been fixing a few minor things, replaced the seal in the output shaft on the transfer case I had an occassional drip there, replaced inner roller pin and door hinge pins on drivers door last night. I located a nice factory stereo from an earlier year that has the CD player built in to replace the current one since it has cassette. The truck has a seperate CD player right below the heat/AC controls but it doesn't work, once I get the other stereo installed I'm gonna remove the seperate CD player and possibly add a CB in that slot.
