Definitely replace the fuel filter and a buying a rebuild kit or taking to a small engine mechanic would definitely help but try the fuel filter first. Oil injection systems on the 2 strokes basically inject the oil into the engine as needed and the engine burns it, unlike a 4 stroke which recirculates the oil and hopefully doesn't burn it.

How old is the gas? Have you thrown in a couple of bottle of gas line anti-freeze in the tank? That helps sometimes too.

Today I pulled the carbs and cleaned them there was no white stuff in the bowl of the carb or anywhere. However some of the jets were plugged it looked like so I sprayed them out till I could see through them. The bowl was almost shiny clean on all of them. When I put it all back together it started first pull but died soon after and I think it was running on cleaner that was in the carb so my thinking is it has to be the fuel pump or filter I couldn't get the filter off and I don't have a new one but I will I might gas to cut it out and replace the hose is there a way to yes the pump?

Well I messed with it some today and the pump seems to be working at least on one carb hose and I blew in he tank and gas came out the hose so I don't think it's plugged i think I'll try a new set of plugs instead of cleaning the old ones over and over. I have a cold so I'm kinda pacing myself today :(

How do the plug wires look? A quick way to clean a plug is with a cigarette lighter to the bottom tip. It probably would be better to put in a new set though right now but that advice is just for future reference.

How old is the gas? Have you tried some higher octane gas just to help it.

I got new plugs and nothin so I did a compression check and there was 90psi in each cylinder almost exactly the same in each I don't know what it's supposed to be though. But still if I put gas or fuel directly into it it runs until it burns it all. Also the plugs are wet everytime I pull them maybe it is the gas doesn't burn I added some fresh gas but it wasn't much and wha was in there was probably a mix of one and 2 year old gas it's only got about a quarter tank now. And the plug wires look ok one fits kinda loose but.

Start by draining ALL the gas out of the tank, then add some a little at a time (like 1g or so). If all of a sudden it starts running then the fue line inside the tank needs replacing. If not by 3/4 of a tank, then it is hard to say. Fuel filter as mentioned, maybe the shut off valve???

Unless you are adding oil to the gas that you are putting in the cylinders directly, STOP!!!!!

Maybe you will be lucky and it is the old gas????

Good advice! Hopefully it is just the old gas but if not I'd say too that fuel is not getting to the engine.

Well I decided to try something I dunked a stick into the gas and then held a match up to the stick ( I walked away from the snowmobile first) and nothin happened it didn't even try to burn so I'm guessing that's what you call a gas fail haha

Big time...lol

Guess engines don't like to run on water huh?

I siphoned out and replaced the gas which it seemed to try to start now so just for kicks I pulled the drain screws on the front of the motor and the white milky stuff came oozing out so I just it drain for a while and tried to start it it popped a little so it must be getting better but then the rope broke.

I got the rope fixed but still no starting however if you are facing the way the sled is the right cylinder has gas and oil on the plug, the middle one has beads if something that smells like gas, and the right one has nothing so I'm thinking something must be blocking those two cylinders.

You might want to find a Polaris forum. The Xtra Lettuce and Tomatos I think might have suffered warp heads and also drive side crank seal issues. Used to hang out with Polaris fanatics and they were always wrenching on their xlt's.

So funny story apparently between replacing the non combustible gas and cleaning the carbs I switched the left and middle plug I noticed this and switched it back and it started on the second pull! And the RPMs don't climb by themselves any more and it doesn't bog down. I also sprayed some carb cleaner on the crank seals and the RPMs didn't change. However I did find that the secondary clutch can wiggle on the shaft a little anyone know if that's normal?

1994 XLT would be the 579cc fugi engine, they were a bit prone to crank failure if you put pipes on them and ran them at high RPM from what I can recall.

DO NOT run fuel with ethanol, ever. It was cause all sorts of havoc on a snowmobile, let alone a 2-stroke engine.

Secondary clutch; if it can wiggle axially along the jackshaft it is fine, just take a 1/2 wrench (hold the brake down) and make sure the bolt is tight. That little bit of slop is to let the clutch "float" and align itself.

"white stuff on plug": white goo on the plugs is usually a sign of a coolant leak into the cylinder. While it's cold, pull the cap off of the coolant bottle. Start the engine, if you see bubbles (or a geyser) you have either a base gasket or head O-ring leak.

Probably a little late for this but liquid cooled snowmobiles cool by having snow thrown from the track onto the coolers/heat exchangers under the tunnel. Once up to temp if you leave them idle too long they WILL overheat. I'd put money on a blown head gasket or possibly burnt pistons or rings. Those triples were notorious for the center piston to blow. Also 90psi is too low, likely why it wont idle, sounds like time for new top end. Check the cylinders for scoring otherwise fairly easy job
