We've owned quite a few escorts over the years. They've been good, but we have had problems after 5+ years. Escort offered to fix for 80 bucks, but I feel like they should work longer. I think what we have now is a9500ix which has gps. GPS is a very nice feature in a radar detector, since it will remember all the false alarms on the routes you drive often enough.

Escort 9500ix. I've had Bel as well (owned by same comapny as Escort, Cincinnati Microwave) but have found Escort to be better.

supposedly the escort passport is really good.. they have a hefty price tag though. i had a lower model escort, it cost about 170 but it did not work. all it would do is go off when you drive by a store with automatic doors and those things that tell you what your speed is. never went off for a state trooper using a radar gun. had it set up properly by an electronic shop too. returned it for a different brand of radar detector(cobra) with the same results.

also i think it depends what state your in, because the detectors only pick up specific bands and cops use all different types of bands.

Bel tronic. RX65

I have the Blue display unit. This has paid for itself so many times warning me after my foot had a mind of its own , LOL

Red display here... which is cheaper.

http://www.amazon.com/Beltronics-RX65-Red-Professional-Series-Detector/dp/B0009204RI/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1358730110&sr=8-1&keywords=rx65

you can also find the blue display on ebay now for a decent price.

I have heard a lot of good about escort and V1's but this one hasnt let me down yet!

Nothing other than a sharp eye. One ticket in 12 years of driving. When you learn what to look for in terms of where police might hide they become a paperweight. If you do feel the need to buy one, drop some coin on one like Valentine or Escort, everything else is junk.

Radar detectors are pretty much useless now-a-days with the laser instant on, by the time he shoots you with the laser beam which is about he size of spaghetti and the dectector responds its too late even if he shoots the vehicle in front of you your detector will not go off till he shoots you and as I said its too late. He has your speed as soon as he pulls the trigger on the gun, its not like the old days back in the 80s and early 90s.

But whats the chances he could be up the rd. shooting at the truck next to you or in front of you and you get the signal to slow down? Happens to me every day. Most good radar detectors have POP detect.

It's total BS that Escort still charges more for blue LEDs when the cost difference is no longer significant.

I got a Beltronics Vector V8

it's worked awesome for me, detecting cops far before I could see them. took a drive from Tyler Tx to C. Station and I know all the places where cops sit and it surprised me how quickly it picked up on their signal.

Bogie counter tells you how many sources of radar/laser are hitting you.

Directional arrows point to where the radar/laser is.

You can connect the detector to your Android phone via Bluetooth and use it as a display if you want.

You can even program them for whatever features you want or don't want to suit your needs at the moment.
