As great as the new DI motors from GM sound, this sounds better. It won't be a racing queen, but that's plenty of low rpm power/torque for towing most things in the "half ton" range. It won't be useful, however, unless they put leaf springs back on the rear, or somehow get the payload/gvwr numbers up to decent levels. They're the lowest in the class now, and will only be worse w/ the heavier diesel.

My plan for a while now is to get a new truck for my retirment from the military in 2016..ish. If GM puts a diesel back in the 1500, I'd buy it in a heartbeat for my retirment gift...even if it's a first year model.

The only way they'll get me to buy a new one is with a baby Duramax since they want to shove AFM on everything else.
