I just bought a new 2014 Silverado, and I am trying to decide what to do. Eventually I want to do something like a 6 inch lift, but I am going to hold off until after I pay the truck off to do something so radical. For the time being, I am trying to decide rather to just level it, or to do a 2.5 inch lift kit. I would rather do the 2.5 inch lift kit, but I am concerned about what effect this will have on gas mileage.

 

So, anyone that has leveled their 2014, as well as those who have done around a 2.5 inch lift kit, could you please inform me about what affect you have seen on fuel economy?

 

The difference on the effect of fuel economy between a 2" level and a 2.5" lift kit is completely negligible. Whichever you choose won't impact your MPG too badly.

Well I'm installing the zone 6.5 inch Lift up tonight. I hope I don't have this issue. I guess I will find out!

How did the install go? After i drove my truck around over the weekend, the SAS reset appears to help, but not completely resolve my issue. I am starting to wonder if it has to do with the brake/ABS lines that are moved on the back of the truck during the lift install. I just can't figure out what it is and why some don't have the issue while some do. I know I don't have any bad sensors or anything. The truck is only 4 months old and didn't have an issue before the lift. Maybe the electronic steering didn't get put back together right, but I have no driveability, steering or alignment issues

Actually the install went pretty smooth. Took longer than I expected but I was working by myself. I did have the full use of my dealership service shop though so that was good. Only drove about 30 miles so far but no issues except my wife complaining about having to climb up in it lol... The lift is nice I am happy so far. Although I think the 6.5 might be overkill.

I've been following this thread for awhile looking at ideas for what I would like to do with my truck and I thought I read somewhere on here that if you have a 2.5 leveling kit it will wear out your ball joints faster opposed to a 2 inch leveling kit. Does anyone know for sure or have any experience?

Good to hear! I thought the same thing at first. I went to the shop to pick the truck up and they had it parked out front at an angle in the corner of the lot. I thought to myself as I drove up that it was too much. After a few days, i was glad I went with the bigger lift. It looked even better going from a 33" tire to a 35". My wife didn't care for it at first either, but the steps I bolted on helped and looked good.

Yeah I think I made the right choice it was just a little nerve wracking taking my new truck with 1000 miles on it and lifting it. But time will tell...still need to clean it up and take a few pics...

Looks really good! Of course I am biased with lifted trucks and aftermarket wheels/tires. It was a bit nerve racking for me too as I was under a 1000 when I had it done. I think you will like it and will get a compliment at least once daily.

I was getting 18-20 before my level kit. I added the level and it dropped to around 18ish. Once I added 20s and MT tires is went down too. If I am easy on the gas I have been getting 17/18. If I am just going with the flow of traffic you will see it drop to 14/16. Also MT tires are worse so I am sure an a/t tire will improve this. 4c38b6690e52a86aa131559de8acc115.jpg

How does everyone like daily driving these lifted/leveled trucks? I am particularly curious about those who have 35" MT's. Pretty sure i'm about to buy a '15 LTZ. think I will most likely go with 6" BDS, 22x10 Fuel mavericks. 35" toyo MT. just got my first quote for the lift (including fox shocks), wheels, tires, and install. right around 7.2k... is that high?

I like it as I feel a truck should be big and mighty although the more I look at my truck it just doesn't feel big to me anymore. 37s??? maybe :P haha but I like it and got 35" trail grapplers and daily drive it all over and have just hit 22K miles and no complaints. Don't regret it at all

best 6in + lift on these trucks? im going to run a 20x12in wheel and a 35

I've heard McGaughy 7"-9" lift has one of the best rides and quality. But I have no personal experience with a lift that tall.
