XYZ, how much oil do you get out of that can at each oil change? Just curious as to how often it needs to be drained. Thanks.

I don't have the patience to let it go that long without checking it....i check it after a few hundred miles usually, and it has maybe a teaspoonful of oil in it....

The Magnuson Moss Warranty Act would put the burden of proof on the OEM. You can make any modification you choose to, and it would have to be proven that what you did caused any problem. Just putting it on, by law, does not affect the warranty. Now, that being said, I would thing GM would actually welcome this mod, as it would lessen the possibility of warranty repairs.

Yeah, I completely agree. Its purely beneficial, providing it's done right, unlike a performance mod, which could put extra strain on the powertrain.

I'd google "oil catch can" for starters. It's covered on plenty of sites, including this one. What other research are you doing?

So far it is working real good. I have considered other units. Primarily from RevX or Custom Corvette Accessories. I wanted to try the Jegs version first just to see what might be caught and how much. Well, there is a lot of oil being caught by the Jegs unit, so proves that some sort of catch can needs to be used by everyone. Now, deciding on which of these I want.

Cowpie - thanks for the information. It will come in handy for me when I finally make up my mind on which kit I want to install.

TXAB - As far as research, I'm trying to find other truck sites, searching them for catch can/PCV can. And then reading up on any posts I may find. So far I've found nothing negative about them. A couple of things I'm looking for and can't seem to find is the efficiency of the kits and if there is an increase in performance and/or mpg's. Any thoughts?

I'd think in most applications for the average user it would be hard to tell any differences in the two things you mentioned. I've seen no stats, but, keeping your intake cleaner, including valves has to be a good thing overall imho. So I see no negatives either. In 5k-6k that I run, iirc, I get around 1 oz. or so. On our work trucks we run them, several different brands are used and they are pretty consistent on how much each traps

Can't argue with that. The whole goal here is not about any performance or mpg gains, though there may be a little of each, it is more of a preventative measure to reduce risks of problems down the road. Now, others that are more knowledgable than I am in the performance car forums, have made the comment that the oil getting into the intake does decrease the octane rating of the fuel in cylinder, increases risk of detonation, and can cause the ECM to revert to low octane timing and such. If that is the case, then there must be some smoothing out of the engine by getting the oil out of there. Putting a catch can on just seems like the prudent thing to do.
