SD card reader

Just an FYI for those of you playing tunes from the card, it will never sound as good as a spinning disc, none of them do.

Whether you're talking about CDs or vinyl, it doesn't matter. Try hauling around hundreds of CDs and fumbling through them when you want a song. SD cards are looking pretty good now!

For SD card users, make sure it is SDHC (32GB and smaller) and not SDXC (64GB and greater). SDXC cards don't appear to work.

Also, format your SD card before using it. Then try just a few files. If they work, add more.

That's what I have learned so far....

The SDXC 64 GB card works fine in my truck. The post scphilli linked was how I got mine working. Follow the PDF attached in the post step by step and your files will work.

I think I tried it once and it was a no go... great idea though when you are out checking cameras.

That's what I was told too- not happy. I would think it wouldn't be a big deal to add a dvd player in the glove compartment though and have it display on the screen, whether or not you want it to work while driving is up to you and the installer, personally I would like the feature for occupants, I obviously wouldn't use it while driving.

It is a DVD player but I think you may need to have the rear seat entertainment package. I can watch DVDs if it's in park and of course the kids can watch in the back.

Make sure you're using MP3s for your music on the SD card. I had some songs that had been saved as WMA and the audio quality was terrible in the vehicle. I figured out that it was because they weren't saved as MP3s when I transferred them. I fixed that and now they sound much better. The higher the bitrate, the better they will sound.

I have been downloading youtube videos and putting them on my 64gb sd card. I'm sure some of you are already doing this, but, I thought it was pretty cool. About every song is available on youtube then you get a video with it.

What you do is start the youtube video, pause it, in the address bar type in ss between www. ss youtube with no spaces.

It kick you off to savefrom.net, wait a bit for the video to load, then you click on mp4 360p in your download size choices.

Throw it on your SD card and of course it takes a while for you see it in your truck, touch [more], then [videos].

Bump for us new 15 owners.

Sorry for dredging up an old post, and sorry if anyone has since replied along these very lines -- but that isn't entirely true. SDXC cards can work, but it'll require a little extra legwork on the user's part to format them properly for our vehicles.

Although Windows (and my Macbook) wanted to format anything over 32 gb in size -- including my SDXC cards -- as ExFAT and not FAT32, there are third-party formatting tools that allow you to partition/format larger sizes in FAT32. Just used such a tool on a 64GB SDXC card that, upon initial attempts to use in the truck under ExFAT formatting, would not be recognized by Intellilink/MyLink. Now it's recognized and plays back my MP3 files just fine. Time to build a rolling jukebox! :-)

Hope this might help someone

Sorry for a thread resurrection:

Most of the time this is due to poor compression. To save on file size a lot of people compress their MP3s/AAC files to 128kbps or something. It sounds like crap.

CD audio sounds better - but if you rip to 256kbps VBR (Variable Bit Rate) it sounds a lot better. 320kbps sounds identical to CDs for most people but the file sizes are much larger.

FLAC is completely uncompressed but is huge file size and doesn't have as wide a compatibility.

In September I got my new truck. 2016 2500HD work truck. It has the basic bare bones radio. I loaded some music to an SD card. When I try to search my music I get this screen. The music seems to be in no particular order even though it's in alphabetical order on the card. I can't find any other menus or methods of searching for a particular song. What are the "T" numbers on the side and how do I get rid of them? The manual is no help at all.

I have mine separated into artists folders and can change settings to show artists or just folders on mine.

Does the '17 Chevy Silverado have an SD card slot? No mention of it in the manual.
