Actually I live in Phoenix.. which for the most part is really flat. We have well timed traffic lights which means that I don't have to stop every mile. I have a Intake, cat back, and diablo tuner. 27 is pushing it.. i routinely get 25

I think if I was a salesmen I would research the products I would be selling. I wouldn't like it if a customer came in knowing more than me.

Mine gets pretty bad mileage at 180 mph. Maybe I should get a bed cover.

This was taken last week when I filled up. So far I have put this many miles on the truck. Hopefully it stays like this. We will see.

And this is city, highway or mixed. Still hard for me to believe and I'm sure I'm not the only doubter on the forum, but hey who cares- it's your story.

about 5 miles highway, 10 city, I work nights so traffic is light and I can drive live an old man. Before my mods I was getting around 22mpg

As for a story.. well I don't care if you believe it or not.

And that is the beauty of the internet. As far as not believing you, I can guarantee that there will be many more who agree with me.

 

It's your credibility, you had 6 posts when you uploaded that pic of your mileage, but the "over how many miles" was cropped out. Really doh_smilie_zps01d873f4.gif

 

Is your truck a hybrid?

So I was a bit of a lurker when I first joined the forum.. And what would I have to gain by posting proof of me getting good gas milage? I assumed everyone was around 20-22MPG..

And no not a hybrid, I didn't think they made those for 2014?

I have a 2014 Silverado LT 5.3, Magnaflow Catback, aFe dry intake, and a Diablo tuner in MPG mode... That combined with not driving like someone from Oklahoma and apparently I get above average milage.

If you posted 20-22, that's believable. Not 27.

i have 2700 miles, i was consistantly between 19 and 22 from sept till mid november, then the cold weather hit.. from between 12 deg and 35deg F, between the additional warm up and i would assume a richer map when its that cold and dry im now in the 15-19 range, not a huge deal just all part of winter time

I believe him for a 25 mile average. My best 25 mile average is 29.4, that was on a flat highway with cruise control @ 58mph. I generally get around 17-18 though, even less now that it's cold and I'm using remote start.

Over 25 miles is believable, but not over the span of a tank of fuel.

 

i have 2700 miles, i was consistantly between 19 and 22 from sept till mid november, then the cold weather hit.. from between 12 deg and 35deg F, between the additional warm up and i would assume a richer map when its that cold and dry im now in the 15-19 range, not a huge deal just all part of winter time

Winter Gas will drop your milage by 2 or 3 MPG.

40 miles and 14.7MPG on my 6.2-should I be concerned? Should have got the V-6...then foot not heavy on gas. Ha ha, mileage will have to wait til fun factor wanes!

i thought that but is there even winter gas anymore now that everything is e10? a friend and i were just wondering this

I don't know for sure if they sell winter gas anymore, but I do know that every winter my milage drops on everything I drive to include my Harley.

 

In Colorado, (where I'm from) They used to add MTBE (Methyl tertiary-butyl ether)every winter to the gas. it was designed to reduce carbon monoxide emissions during the winter months. Not sure if they still do it, but your MPG was drastically effected.

I think so. I think most of my gas mileage takes a shit in the winter due to remote start and a short 4 mile drive to work.

i know MTBE is not legal in new youk anymore for on road or off road fuel, i used to run race gas in my 250f back on 04 and the formula had to be changed to be MTBE free in NY

      Length/amount of data capture will be important to consider, sifting through 5 minutes of a data log can be enormous when it is stored in milliseconds. Being able to find the 'event' let alone decipher it.   Presumably the driver would notice something and hit a button to capture the 'window' of data. That window has to be large enough for the operator to recognize the event and react accordingly.    The data has to be able to be retrieved easily.   The data has to be able to be understood. Which is the biggest challenge, dealer techs won't even know what most of it is and would likely not even look at it if an owner brought it to them. Meaning the owner, the least educated/qualified, trying to understand it.    How will the data be presented? Could specific PIDs be selected and a timelapse graph be watched? How will a specific value be noted as abnormal? Additionally, a good data logger would be able to 'learn' normal values for a specific vehicle and flag abnormalities automatically. It could in theory watch parameters degrade over time and suggest maintenance as needed. (If the MAF reading begins tapering off for a given set of other readings - MAP, throttle position, Ambient, etc.. a flag to check air filter.) With the amount of data available, a device (really the vehicle rather than an additional accessory) should be able to do more than issue a DTC. It should be able to run the full diagnostic suite automatically and present a solution rather than a code. (It's not the 90's anymore). The technology is available for the vehicle to not just say "P0087", it should know low fuel pressure, check other PIDs to narrow down the problem itself, and determine if it is a lift pump, high pressure pump, regulator, leak in the fuel line, clogged filter, etc. Even if it can't narrow it down, it should be able to guide the user to the likely problems.   This would be a major problem for dealer service departments, which are the manufacturers customers it is in their collective best interest to NOT have this available to the consumer.   Further, if the owner is going to be the primary consumer of the data, it's got to be at a consumer price point vs. dealer only specialty tool price.   This group is more 'involved' in their vehicle than general public/consumer and will have knowledge, experience, needs and desires that are quite different from the market at large.

      I put the prof up. If you read what I posted. You can see that housing, cars and income are in line with the era we were talking about. It’s harder in some places easier in others.       Lets see if I can sum up two pages of nothing useful.    You want to refute your own governments data of the "Purchasing Power" Index FOR THE ENTIRE USA and its territories replacing it with the experience of a single family and its business and label that reality?  Then pound on that for a week hoping it will find traction?    Stan, I've told you several times. I don't do irrational. There are more people in the USA than your family.    I'm pretty sure this tread is so blown up. I'll give you a few days or months if need be to post yourself silent then I'll see if I can find enough parts of the train to reassemble it.

      Facebook groups hate VSE, poor customer service; their responses to criticisms are pretty poor for a reputable company. I'm not a customer, haven't bought anything from them, but how they handle themselves on social media is a definite "No" for me.

      $10,000 for a transmission?   Pretty sure I could buy all the parts, tools, and education to rebuild it myself for a quarter of that amount.   or swap it out with a new one...
