From Oklahoma, Hmm.... that was a real adult comment. I'm not from Oklahoma, but I do live here.

If you posted 20-22, that's believable. Not 27.

i'll tell you guys soon as I leave Weatherford, Ok and head to Arkansas. Straight shot. Couldn't ask for better conditions for MPG. But then again it will be it's first trip so might not be that great.

200 miles on mine and I'm barely cracking 13 mpg - I'm chalking this up to winter, remote start usage, and new truck...that and its all hills here, plus the last 50 miles or so have all been in a foot of snow & auto or 4.

Hoping it gets a lot better though.

I am still at 14.2, even with the download so no improvement whatsoever. mix of city and highway. When I had the download done, was told by the service tech "well it is a heavy truck". Um, thanks. I'm still under 3,000 miles so I am going to give it some time.

I hand calculated my new AT with the 6.2 motor this morning. I had 110 miles on the tank, DIC showed 17.9mpg and hand calculation was 15.01mpg. I am not worrying about mpg until the motor gets 3000-5000 miles on it. Either way still better than the 2010 5.3/AT this truck replaced and a lot more power/fun factor as well.

Last week, I took my 2014 Denali to Austin to see my sister for Thanksgiving. I left on Wednesday, and took I-35 from Ft. Worth to Austin. After some traffic bottlenecking and some 55-75mph driving, and some length stops idling, I achieved 22.4 mpg. The truck was 2/3rd's 87 and 1/4 93 octane. Trip started with 86 Miles on the truck.

On the return trip, toping off with 93 octane and no stops, alternating between 68-75 miles per hour, the result was 22.6mpg.

I am very impressed. No tail wind on either trip. My 2011 Denali would get 17.5 at best. Gotta love AFM!

I'm getting 20-23 mpg highway as long as I stay around 70 mph. 75 mph + I get about 17-18 mpg.

In the city It drops significantly; I'm usually around 15-16 sometimes 14.

My dad bought the same exact truck as me after seeing mine and he is getting around 14.5 city. He has never hit above 20 mpg to my knowledge, even on a road trip. I have a much heavier foot than him so it doesn't make since at all

Also I'm sitting at almost 11k miles and mpg has been consistent throughout. My dad is probably still under 4k

My first 50 miles gave me an average of 8mph and that was babying the pedal. I hope after a few tanks she learns my habits and improves.

Fuels blends will vary from season to season. Colder months are blended with a higher vapor pressure. It also varies depending on your area of the country and the environmentally mandated requirements for cleaner fuels. Therefore the vapor pressure will differ form one area to another even in the same season.

As for JL83's 27+ mpg, I actually find it plausible if you were able to maintain the same driving conditions for an extended period. I filled up last night and reset the DIC. I drove 11 city miles while not traveling over 45mph and had to stop for a short time at 4 lights. I was showing 27.3mpg when I parked in my garage. There's no way that most people will be able to keep doing that but it's possible.

Is it possible that the computer is inaccurate?

I went down one of the few plowed & flat stretches of road here yesterday and reset 'Trip A'

I set cruise to 33 and got, according to the instant calculation about 24.3 mpg for about 13 miles. But, the 'high mpg' was only showing about 14.2 and the average was 11.4 - If I was getting 24.3 for pretty much the whole 13 miles, wouldn't the high & average be right around 24?

I filled up yesterday, so I'm going to keep track, but all of the snow driving yesterday and this morning are going to throw off hand calcs...

Yes, the computer could be wrong. I got the 27+ by using "Trip A". I did not check the other fuel economy screen. I have noticed that the two do not always agree.

Posted

The computer calculate mpg will always be off, it is basing it off of the fueling calculation that runs the fuel injectors. Hand calculations is the only way to be accurate.

Posted

The difference is as likely to be differences in how fuel the tank is on the 2 refills.

I think everyone here is getting way off track here.

The question I asked was.....Did any one else have the same problem,....was getting approx 22 mpg

and then took it in for a recall and NOW get's 14 mpg.

ANYWAY

GM saw the post and is going to look into it deeper.,I will post what they come up with.

(P.S. I brought this to GM's attention before and they blew me off!!!!)

    • HD at the moment, are kinda their own deal.  How LTZ sells on those vs on 1500, there is a difference.   They are merging most of the mid trims on 1500.  LT, RST and LTZ are replaced by one trim, Silverado.  LT and RST are a BIG portion of sales.    Bad naming choice aside, the new Silverado trim will offer the spread of options that those three trims offered.  So expect to see things like the tech package for example, and memory seats.  And LT Trail Boss will now just be "Trail Boss" (formerly LT Trail Boss) but will offer content spread like the new Silverado trim will.  The press photos showed the Trail Boss (formerly LT Trail Boss) has access to Super Cruise now, which on the current truck was High Country only.       Here is the Trail Boss interior.  Memory seats and Super Cruise are present.  All things the LT Trail Boss it replaces, and the RST it was based on didn't get on the current gen.  You had to go to LTZ or ZR2 for memory seats, and High Country for Super Cruise.
    • I installed a Hellwig rear sway bar on my 21 Sierra SLT, it made a huge difference on how the truck handles, no body roll, the trucks much more planted now. Not sure of the suspension differences between the 21 and 26,  if its body roll your having a sway bar will solve it.
    • So a follow up and my fix. I found in online searches the live data to look at on a scan tool to verify the fuel tank pressure sensor was working.  It showed an spec number towards the lower end of the rang, but in spec.  Then while it was running opened the gas cap and the pressure should change.  It didn't change even a tiny bit.  The data for the purge valve said it was open...never changed. So then I measured the voltages on the plug for the fuel pressure sensor and they matched what it should be.  So local car quest parts had the sensor in stock...it was a bit of a pain to remove and an even bigger one to get it to actually go back in.  It helped to unbolt the driveshaft and bungie cord away from the gas tank to give a bit more room to work. So fuel tank pressure sensor in I cleared the code, and started it up.  I went to the scan tool's live data and... Eureka! The pressure number was different and fluctuated a bit.  So took it on a short drive and pressure number varied saw the purge valve go from closed to open and back to closed.  Drove it to and from work for roughly a week plugged in the scan tool no codes.  I took it in to get tested and passed.  In my state's infinite wisdom (oops meant greed), since I pushed the test with the maximum extensions I have to take it back in by Feb '27 to 'get it back up to date', then my next test won't be until Feb '29.
    • Any grease on the stud threads of any kind?   Wheel studs should have NOTHING on them for proper torquing and so the nuts don't back off.     Are all of the mating surfaces clean?  So wheel, rotor and hub?     We've had plenty of trucks at work with that wheel, this is a first to me.  Makes me think they've got a lube tech putting anti-seize on all the wheel studs or some kind of grease, and they need to stop doing that.  To have 11 other trucks with the same exact problem.
    • I was a Chevy guy for years, then switched to GMC because I liked the looks better.  I'm actually thinking I like the Chevy looks better than GMC for the first time in a lot of years.   One thing I know for certain, the new GMC dash is hideous!  Chevy wins this one!
