Does anyone know of a cap that is tall enough and the door opening is big enough to fit a quad? My quads handle bars are a little bit higher than the cab.....maybe 2". I might have to go with a tonneau cover instead or just get a small trailer.

Maybe go with something like the A.R.E. TW series (or something similar) and put it in backwards??

Thanks for the recommendations. Seems the topper Ez lift is the same prices as the cap. Seems expensive. Idk if I can back my quad in. It's sketchy enough going nose first. I think I'll go a different route. Thanks again though.

I hear ya, I backed my quad in one time haha. I guess it was about as scary as reversing out of the bed. Just less used to it.

I know I don't have a 14+, but I recently bought a Leer 100XL for my 07 and I love it. Fit and finish is excellent!

Has anyone found a good way to seal the tailgate yet? For those of you with a Cap installed have you had any issues with moisture or dirt inside your bed?

I've battle the dust thing on numerous trucks with camper shells and tonneaus. I've tried gaskets on tailgates without much success. These trucks would be particularly hard to seal the gate too because of the amount of gap on the vertical sides of the gate.

I mentioned this to the guy installing my Leer shell, he has been in the biz for years and said he has seen research on it and the reason dust comes in the truck bed with a shell is because of aerodynamics. He told me to get some foam ( I went to Lowe's and got some that I think was for sealing around window AC units I think ( it's about 2"x2" and comes in a piece a few feet long. I cut into 6-8" strips and stuffed then into the openings of the bed under the bed rails, some are large at about the size of my foam pieces but a few are only about 1/4" wide.

Anyway I stuffed all those holes as he suggested and it seems to help a lot. I don't think you'd ever eliminate it but it has stopped the dust in my bed at least 90 percent. I just returned from a hunting trip on a lot of dusty gravel roads and my bed is not any more dusty now than it was before.

It's worth the minimal cost and easy to do. The foam I used was dark grey so with my spray in liner you can't even see the foam.

Wow that's a very creative solution! Thank you for the advise. I know exactly what foam you are referring to and will definitely attempt doing what you've done.

I'm not positive but I think they had then prepainted in the solid (non metallic) colors: Red, regular white, and black.

I'm going to buy a topper after the first of the year. I had one on my last truck and it was a Ranch brand. It was nice but I disliked the amount of space between the cap and the cab. When I asked the place they assured me it would fit close and I would be able to open the back window of the truck and send A/C into the cap. The truck was a Nissan Titan and the rear window was like a 32" tv so I was thinking it would work. Long story short I was pissed when I went to pick it up as I felt I was BS'd. They credited me 300 for my trouble but I will never buy a Ranch brand or go back there.

So after all that above my question is what brand seems to have the best fit? My truck is a Summit White and is a Crew Cab. I would like the roof rack and fold down front window so I can clean it easier, side vented windows with screens, and thats about it. I like the look of the ARE, LEER and Snugtops.

None of the dealers near me had the ARE tops for me to see so I can not give an honest opinion on them. I really think that you can not go wrong with any of them & it just depends on which one has the features you want within your budget. After doing some research and pricing out I decided to go with the LeerXR model. My top has the roof liner, fold down front window, factory installed Thule rack so it can handle much more weight and it locks and unlocks with my key fob. I was able to get it ordered and installed a month faster and for a $800 less than a comparable snugtop shell. Actually the shell was installed less than 3 weeks after I ordered it! I really like the fit and finish. To me it sits perfectly against the bed and cab. I will try to post a photo for you tomorrow.
