Bed Liner Discussion

Those of you that did line x. Was it the line x standard, premium or platinum? Standard line x is $475 and Premium Is $575 around here.

 

Also I was told by Line x that I cannot do over the rails cause of the plastic guards on the bed. Apparently they clip in and some other bs, anyone heard different?

I did the standard. $425 in the Portland Oregon area. They didn't offer me anything called a platinum. Only standard and premium, which had some gloss in it.

I'm really lost on deciding what bed liner to choose. From one hand I like to have a liner with grip so whatever I put there will not slide allover. From the other hand I need it to be smooth as those plastic liners (had it on my old f-150) because sometime I pick up palettes of tile and the forklift lay them at the edge (tailgate) and then slide the palette in, those pallets are heavy and are made from rough wood so I assume some liners will not work well together.

 

It worked great with the plastic liner I had on my f-150 but I'm afraid a plastic liner will not work with a tonneau cover well.

 

I'm trying to decide on what combination will work best and will appreciate any advice.

Based on your usage description, it sounds like you may need to stick with the slick plastic drop-in version. My WeatherTech is probably not as "grippy" as a spray-in, however it would not allow for a pallet of tile to slide easily. I'd fear you would end up damaging it after repeated cargo sliding attempts as the wooden pallet would try to grab into the liner material. Based on its design and Velcro fastening system I think you would end up causing it to ripple when sliding heavy cargo on it.

However, if you're using a forklift to set a pallet into the truck I would think you wouldn't have to actually slide it. Doesn't the forklift hold the pallet out far enough that it can set it deep enough into the bed on the first try, as opposed to pushing it across the liner?

I told the dealer that if I'm spending that much on a truck at their establishment that they can spray it at no extra charge, to which they agreed. When I came to get my truck the box liner was sprayed in at no extra cost to me.

I have the factory drop in liner. Then I put a bed mat on top of it. The mat doesn't lay perfect but not bad either. If you went that route you could protect your sides and went you need a slick surface just toss out the mat or roll it it to front.

When the forklift lay the pallet on the bed the pallet still stick out about a foot or so from the bed on the tailgate, that's about as far as the forklift can reach.

 

You're right, I think I should stick to the drop-in liner.

I had ordered the factory mat with the truck then decided to buy the liner after the parts guy I know showed me his with both.

I would love to do a spray in liner in my new 2014 sierra but a couple times a year I haul my snowmobile in the back and with a spray liner the carbides will tear right through the spray liner material I am thinking. I like the new weathertech liner but im afraid that may be to rubbery for the skis to slide across so I may be stuck with a plastic drop liner. any thoughts??

The plastic bed rail guards do clip in. I would assume if you did over the rail the holes that the rails clip into would become to small and u wouldn't be able to get the rails back on. I'd rather have spray over the rail and no bed rail protectors installed.

My local Line-x dealer is 500 plus tax. 625 for the premium with UV protection (no fading) going in on Friday to have it done. The dealer was the same price..

Getting my truck Line-X as we speak. 450 for the standard liner and 550 for the premium. Im getting the Premium. There are 3 other 14 Silverados getting spayed as well. They know how to mask off the movable anchor points as well.
