Anyone with a Bedrug and a Bak Tonneau cover?

 

I've had a bedrug installed since shortly after purchasing the truck in September. I just installed a BakFlip F1 on Friday and don't know where to cut into the Bedrug for the drain tubes. Anyone with a Bedrug and drain tube installed have a good picture of where I should be looking? I'd prefer to not have to peel back some of the Bedrug to find out.

 

 

 

Love the Bedrug btw! Perfect for what I wanted in that it replicates what a trunk would normally feel like. I won't think twice about leaving my golf clubs in the bed for the duration of the summer like I typically do.

I didn't cut into the bedrug for my drain tubes. I just ran them behind the bed rug and out the top tie down holes.

I also have the Bedrug, with an Undercover Flex. I had a sprayed in liner on my 2008, but decided to go with the Bedrug. I do not use the truck for anything close to heavy commercial use. Mostly camping, fishing, firewood type stuff is in the bed. Once the spray in got dirty, it basically stay in that condition even if it was lightly power washed.

I also did not cut the side material to install the drain tubes. I just cut the tubes and ran them behind the side Bedrug panel and out the top tie down hole. The only downside is you can't use that hole for an anchor, but it can be easily removed and an anchor installed if needed.

Had the Bedrug in my last truck held up well love the look have the Bedrug mat in this one.

I had Line-X installed last week. Yesterday, I installed a BedRug over it as well as my Fold-A-Cover G4 Elite. I really like the Bed Rug but the combination of BedRug + Line-X makes it a little tricky closing the tailgate.

As I mentioned, this is a Fold-A-Cover tailgate seal. The rubber is very soft.

Bedrug came in last week and if finally warmed up enough to install it yesterday. Only have a few of pics of right before I re-installed my Trifecta Xtang Signature series trifold bed cover and it is raining cats and dogs today but can take some more later. I really like this BedRug thing it actually fits like a glove and was a piece of cake to install. Would much rather do this than have my bed paint sanded off and a bedliner sprayed in but I had the bedliner on the last 2 trucks so i know it is good but I bought those trucks used and both beds had a lot of scratches. I had no heartburn at all for scuffing those up and having the line-x applied.

 

Latest issue with this 2014 truck is that the exterior paint water spots terribly, worse than any vehicle I have ever owned. I think the dealer put something on the paint? The window sticker had an upcharge for an enviromental protection package? I texted the sales guy and he says that all their trucks come into an off site prep area and are then sent to the lot and he has no idea what could have been done to it. If we ever get some good weather I am going to wash and put 2 coats high quality wax on her that should cure the problem. No telling what they did to it. So far I do not have any noticeable swirl marks thank goodness. What are you guys using on your new GM trucks that does not water spot? Yes we have extremely hard water here but I have never seen any of my vehicles do like this even my Black truck. This 50k plus truck looks like a spotted leopard....................

I originally went with the GMC Bedrug but it covered the cargo management holes and made it difficult to move around the tie down hooks. Took it back to the dealer and went with the Line X platinum and then installed the Bedrug Bed Mat to cover the floor. It really gives best of both. All this looks great under the Diamondback Tonneau.

Every time I buy a new truck, I buy a lay-in rubber bed mat (aftermarket) to accomodate my hauling needs. Cost at the local RV dealer is 59.00 and tax.

 

The rubber really keeps cargo from shifting around, and I have yet to have the wind pull one out while driving on the freeway. I use a plastic inside tailgate

 

cover from a bedliner on just the tailgate part, to keep that from getting scraped up. Those are about 30 bucks.

Will have to try the water wash thing and take a peek but I would say that it will hold water until it drys out on its own. Will probably foul up the paint in a few years but if so I will have the paint scruffed off and the line-x sprayed in at that time. I like the idea of being able to pull this bedrug out easily since it is just fastened with velcro. Come spring time and some warm weather I am going to pull it and apply a couple of coats of wax to the bed interior to help protect it. The bedrug back side appears to be a closed cell neoprene and pretty soft and it has the ribs in it that exactly match the bed contours so maybe it will not mar it up too badly. I love that topside of the bedrug feels like good quality carpet very nice.I think it is super neat that it comes out onto the tailgate and when you shut the tailgate everything inside is sealed up well as long as your tonneau has a good seal. Great product.

i just put a black lineX in my 6.6 ft bed and couldn't be happier! I had rhino lining in my last truck and after 11 years when i traded it in it still looked great, but the lineX is definitely better quality

I just received my bull ring tie downs. Picked them up on eBay for $60. I've been waiting for better weather to get my bed sprayed. I have a local shop that does high pressure spray in for $375 cash no tax, but it is not Line X brand. Do y'all think there is a big difference, or is the Line X worth the extra coin?

I would get the LineX. I made my appointment for when I'm off work. I don't think its something worth saving a few bucks on. You generally get what you pay for.

I have a local shop that does high pressure spray in for $375 cash no tax, but it is not Line X brand. Do y'all think there is a big difference, or is the Line X worth the extra coin?

 

 

Please let us know how these work. I about ordered these over the OEM one's but I read a few bad critiques of them on Amazon. People say the rings rattle when installed and you can hear them rattling when driving. If they're solid, I'll probably get a seot of these too.

I used to get the plastic drop in liners for my prior trucks and had the same problems mentioned on this topic. On my 2014 truck, I decided to go with a sprayed in liner. This company has been in business for over 10 years and uses their own brand. They also do all the dealerships in the immediately area. The Chevy garage where I purchased my truck told me about them. They had a few new Chevys, Fords and Dodge/Rams in their parking area which they were going to spray in liners. I was able to inspect their operations and their work prior to getting my truck done. They charged me $450 and I was very happy with their work. They also warranty it for the original owner's life of the truck. I am glad I went this way on my new truck.

 

I also read there were a few fires with the drop in plastic liners.

 

Fires spontaneously ignited when workers or others attempted to fill portable gasoline containers (gas cans) in the backs of pickup trucks equipped with plastic bed liners or in cars with carpeted surfaces.

 

These fires result from the buildup of static electricity. The insulating effect of the bed liner or carpet prevents the static charge generated by gasoline flowing into the container or other sources from grounding. The discharge of this buildup to the grounded gasoline dispenser nozzle may cause a spark and ignite the gasoline. Both ungrounded metal (most hazardous) and plastic gas containers have been involved in these incidents.

 

People with the plastic drop in liners etc. should take care and hopefully there shouldn’t be any problems. This should be everyone when dealing with gas tanks as well.

I used hurculiner(sp) On my 2011, put lots of firewood, dirt,granite,and lots of dead deer lol. Never peeled or even scratched May do it again since I can do that for $150
