Bed Liner Discussion

A friend had black Linex sprayed in his open bed. I crawled in it a year after it was done to retrieve our luggage. I came out of there looking like I had done a 8 hr shift in a coal mine.

Never had that happen in this or my last truck. Was it real Line-X or some generic stuff?

It had a Linex sticker on it. The owner was in his seventies and not one to cheap out on anything. Here in the southwest, the sun is much harder on things than in the northern states.

I'm either doing a herculiner or a used bedrug if I can find it.... the Herculiner for someone like me who has a tonneau and a bedmat anyways, is fine. Prep is the key and a touch up is easy......

...did you take off the plastic rail covers and have the top of the bed side rails sprayed too? or leave them on and just spray the bed and up the insides of the sides?

 

I like the look of the plastic rail covers, but like the thought of the top of the rails being sprayed with liner...in case the plastic covers get scratched in the future (inevitable for those of us who use our trucks)

 

also, what about the top of the tailgate? spray or no.

 

pics would be great if you don't care. also, let's not turn this into a "which bedliner is best" thread. I am not interested in the type of bedliner you have...just which route you went and your thought behind it.

The bed rails are not solid metal under the plastic, you can't remove them without the bed rail looking like Swiss cheese.

I left the top rail caps on and didn't spray under them. the top of my tailgate has a rail cover as well. the only spot was next to the cab that didn't have a top rail. They sprayed that so the entire bed top rail is covered. I figure if I mangle up my rail covers, I can just get new ones.

Mine were removed, sprayed and replaced. The shop said it was easy and quicker to remove them then it was to spray around them.

• Has anyone cut into their factory drop in liner in order to take advantage of the upper tie downs?

 

Read through this thread. Mine came with the upper tie downs each marked with a dimple. You just drill them out with a hole saw. I only drilled the four I was going to use.

I have the Dual Liner, great product. The main advantage i liked is the ability to remove it when my lease is up.

Only problem i have with my bed rug is i get shocked everytime i crawl in and out out the bed.

 

Have seen some photos of the Bedtred. Looks like a nice alternative to a regular drop in and the spray on. Easy to install and easy to remove. However since i have a bed cap and mainly plan on hauling around groceries and luggage, its not something i really needed.

Only had it in for a few days, I'll have a better idea after a couple more weeks in above 70 degree weather so see if there's any shifting etc. So far I love it!
