Anybody from Michigan suggest good dealers that are willing to deal? I have just started looking and I don't have the time to go to a bunch of dealers and haggle for a price. I am in Kalamazoo so anything within 100 miles is doable for me.

Last week, I picked up a red 2014 Sierra SLE Crew Cab 5.3, short bed, value package. It is a 2wd, but has the Z71 offroad package. The dealer added 20" wheels and the 6" oval step boards.

MSRP: $40,650

Dealer Add Ons: $2,200

Total: $42,850

I was able to get it for $33,750 plus TTL. This included $4,500 in rebates, $300 in GM Card Earnings, $500 Farm Bureau.

I was pleased with the deal.

Best deal I've been offered so far in Dallas:

2014 Sierra 1500 SLT 4x4 Z71

-truck is pretty much loaded

Dealer added but included in price:

-spray in bed liner

-window tint

MSRP: $50680

Sale Price $44420 +TTL

Bedliner and tint will cost me around $700 if I get it done myself so if I subtract that from the price I'm looking at $43720 + TTL

Good deal?

how did you get the extra $3800 off? negotiation? trade in? the msrp is very similar to what i'm looking at for the truck i want. i'm figuring i'll at least get $6460(supplier, all star, farm bureau) off of my msrp of about 41,210. i'm really wanting a black silverado crew cab LT 4x4 short box with all star. i want only the 4.3. i'll only add the bed protection package and 4' chrome assist step if they give them for free/give me a great deal.

Yes, it was part of the negotiations.

This is the deal I worked out and after incentives changed for August to 0 percent financing and the truck I ordered in June is arriving on Friday he said we will keep the same price with 0 percent financing I'm very happy with price

My sticker was 40,800. I paid 33,400 for it. Plus I had mud flaps and rain guards thrown in, which is about a 320 dollar value.

All dealers are willing to deal from my experience.... They would all LIKE you to think the price is set and non negotiable, but in the end, they are all willing to negotiate. It also depends on how hungry a given dealership is at any given time. I think you have a better chance of getting a good deal at a higher volume dealer rather than a smaller one that doesn't move as many vehicles. I ended up buying my truck from an out of state dealer on the last day of the month.

With you being from Michigan, at least you stand a good chance being related to a GM employee! The employee discount will save you a couple thousand by itself.

You can do better than the employee discount, though. I used to sell Chevies at what was at the time - not sure if it still is - the biggest dealership in the north east. The employee discout was good, but end of the model year (September), at the end of the month, was always the best time to get a deal. The incentives were crazy. They were knocking 12k, sometimes more, off of sticker. My fist truck was basically what I have now - 2003 regular cab, short bed Z71, 5.3L, with a sticker of clost to 35. I got it for 22. That wont happen these days, but I got 8k off in July at a small dealership, so I'm sure that number would have been closer to 10 at a bigger dealership at the end of the year/month. But you're also limited on selection. Well, you might be, depending on what you want. The demand doesn't seem to be there for regular cabs like it used to be, so it'll probably be slim pickings for whatever's left of the few they originally had in stock. But if you're flexible on color and engine, you'll be happy with the price you pay.

Oh, and "dealer invoice" isn't really as low as they can go. There's usually at least 1,000 left to work with. That used to be a tactic for the really tough sells. Hold out like 500 over that and play to their rational side. "Hey, man, I'm giving you a great deal, see? But I need to hold out something, otherwise I don't make any money from this sale. I wana give you a good price, but I have to pay the bills, too" 90% of them didn't fall for that. They wanted that "last" 500 off. But there was still that 1,000 cushion. A few people that knew what they were doing knew that wasn't the bottom line, though. And let me tell you, if you go in there with a news paper add, that's the best way. Usually the dealership will take a hit on that one stock number vehicle to bring you in and switch you to somethig else, or they play the, "that's the only vehicle at that price" game. And that's true, it is, because they're usually losing a few hundred to make it look so good. But if you pick out the same exact vehicle and demand the same price on the same thing, there's really no logical way to argue that. It was so damn frustrating when people did that. The bait and switch worked on maybe 1% of them. The rest either got the advertised vehicle, got what they wanted for very close to the advertised price, or walked out seemingly ready to choke me to death. But anyway, the paper, man. Best way to get a good deal if you just don't feel like waiting and don't like to haggle.

That and Dec. 31 would work good too, if the haven't hit there numbers. I didn't even have to haggle too much. It helps if you try to stay with the same dealer. I trade about every two years they will start calling me with good deals, knowing I don't care too much about the color and I will move around on the packages depending on the deal.

I couldn't get the local dealers here (Pittsburgh PA) to budge off the advertised supplier pricing with rebates. So I finally pulled the trigger on the nearly the truck I wanted (I say nearly because I wanted navigation too but it didn't have it):

2014 Sierra SLE 4x4 crew cab, short box with All-Terrain package, 20's, and 5.3L v8.

MSRP: 48,750

selling price: 40,830

I fought to get $17k for my car trade-in. So then I paid 7% sales tax on the difference and around $300 in DMV and document fees.

I was going to get a SLT All-Terrain but the discounts weren't as good and I couldn't justify paying almost $5k more for leather seats and a few other minor options. On the exterior, my truck looks exactly the same as the SLT All-Terrain. The SLE All-Terrain seats are interesting in that the outer edges are leather-trimmed while the center inserts are cloth. I will probably buy the factory navigation upgrade from our fellow forum member here.

You may want to try the onstar navigation it works good, you can program through the phone and its picks it up when you enter the truck or just hit the button and talk. I keep on old Garman around too as back up, its still the easiest one I every used.

I did the same email to 4 local dealers this is what I want. i told them I do not need a new truck, this is more of a want vs a need so If I dont get to where I want then no sweat. 2014 White Silverado Lt with ALL star package, Tow package etc. 20 In wheels, bed liner etc.

Sticker 41 and change

Paid 33,400

was able to get 12K for my trade ( that was the biggest ass pain to haggle)

i'm about to go to another dealer here in a few minutes.

the dealer i was working with didn't have the truck i wanted, but was going to trade with another dealership. but for some insanely stupid reason, that dealership sold that truck yesterday morning or wednesday night. it was one with the msrp still $1500 cheaper.

so now i'm back to the ALMOST all star truck(convenience+towing) and because it's not an all star/and they won't put 18 inch wheels on it, it doesn't have the extra $1000 rebate. which i'll just need some more for my trade and i'll be happy.

its msrp is 41,615. which i can do.. maybe if they'll take off the trailering part and leave the locking differential.. it'd be better cause i don't haul anything but want the differential. the have it listed as $36,857 online. i'll play dumb and try talking them down.

    • Thanks for all the help so far!   I did try right from 2026 right down to 2021, and only from 2023 down lets me select the option for tire psi change, but I get the vehicle not supported error!   I'll definitely try it under Chevrolet after work today, and I'll get the sensor number from gm for my truck tire sensors. And I'll let you know if it works for me under Chevrolet!   And if that doesn't work, I'm going to guess that what @Atlas said about maybe I have a different body control module could be true!
    • From where I'm sitting this sounds like a compatibility problem. I'm assuming the 2007 was a 900-series truck, and not an 800-series (they were sold side-by-side in dealerships that model year), since it starts and runs.   This is why I HATE post-2006 vehicles. Everything becomes a huge problem when you try to keep the thing running for longer than the manufacturer has designed it to.    I can't remember when Global-A architecture started - either '10 or '11. For your sake, you had better hope it's '11, or you're going to be spending some BIG money to correct this cluster-eff. That's something you need to find out before doing anything else. You may have several computers bricked ... but the fact that it runs tells me you MIGHT be ok here.     EDIT: Just did a quick refresher. You're screwed. This is Global-A. The 2 systems are NOT compatible in the slightest. Once you get the correct engine in there that IS compatible, you're going to need to see how many computers are locked. Absolute NIGHTMARE to straighten out, too. Your buddy might be better off cutting his losses and finding something else.   Welcome to post-2006 vehicle electronics. This is why I quit the industry, and drive nothing built after 1994. This stuff takes all the fun out of wrenching!

    • True, hard to say what differences there may or may not be between Chev and GM as well as a production year or mid year part change either.    I just found it odd that under the Sierra choice on the Autel that many of the last few years of production year did not include the choice of changing the tire pressure but if that is an Autel thing or a GM thing as to why the choices were not there. Knowing what tpms sensors are on the truck should give some guidance into which choices on the tool even make sense to try as I wouldn't give up just yet with the tool but I guess he will see what if anything he comes up with if he finds out a bit more info and tries a few more things on the Autel.
    • I'm sure if you went to a junkyard where you go in and pull the part off the truck yourself, not a used part place where they do it for you, you can get that part on it's own.  Depending on if and what else you would be buying, and time of day, they might even just skip over adding it as a item to the bill.
