been creeping this forum the last few days.. figured i'd join in. i've settled on the crew cab 4x4 silverado short box lt (4.3 v6) with convenience package. msrp comes to $42,445.. but with cash allowance and special value discounts, it comes down to $37,674. do you all think i could get it down to anywhere near $31,000 OTD?

i currently have an '11 silverado regular cab 4x4 W/T with LS trim, 4.8 v8 engine, trailering package, and almost 35,000 miles. i still owe on it, but not upside down on it. i just need something with better gas mileage and more features, not to mention more room.

how good do you think the deals will be in the next couple months til the '15s get in OR what month should i look to buy? or should i wait for 15's to come around?

i don't "need" a new truck.. just wanting one, but wanting a good deal more importantly. so time is not an issue. i'll just need tires soon, so i was trying to avoid that.

Paid 48.6 for my diamond white, 6.2l Denali at Laura GMC in St. Louis. It was the most loaded one on their lot with sunroof, driver assist etc etc. the zero percent financing was a nice bonus. Big props to Ryan Mccalla at Laura, he redid all the paperwork after I gave him my USAA insurance card. Apparently it was worth an extra $750 discount. He certainly didn't need to do that. I gave my local dealer a chance to get close before I went out and they couldn't even give me a number, just said go get it. After shopping vehicles for eight months this kind of deal is what it took.

I did catch a good picture driving home under the "super moon". I just wish I had had a good camera around. uryrerag.jpg

How far did you have to travel? Bought a '13(new) a year or so ago from there. Kept waiting for the irritating fee's or last minute upcharges, they never did that. Stuck with the advertised price & bought straight out w/o a trade in. Have sent a couple of friends down who have bought a 2500 Dmax & Yukon XL since too.

from reading through this thread, it's looking like there's more buyers getting their truck either at %80 OTD or before TTL of 'final' msrp no matter what brand/style/etc they get. however i've noticed the larger the msrp, the more the dealer comes down.

example: a truck with msrp of 50k may be purchased for 39k otd=78%. however a truck with 35k msrp may sell otd for 29k=%82.

the truck i want has a msrp of $41,615... has a 'special value discount' of $2758.14 and 'cash allowance' of $2000, bringing it down to $36,857. but the msrp is still 41,615. %80 of that is $33,292.

i wish the '15s would hit the lot already so the '14s would go down some more.

also, does anyone know if the farm bureau discount is still active? i'm a member.. just curious.

I flew from Wichita to St. Louis for $233 and drove home same day, about 475 miles. Absolutely worth it, it would have been 5k more local. I agree, it was a very good experience. They do not negotiate on price at all but as with my insurance card example their philosophy is to offer every rebate and do volume. I searched nationwide and didn't see anything even close advertised except for the used demos with 6-10k miles.

Think Farm Bureau discounts are by state. While one state has an offer on GM trucks, another will have another mfg. So you will have to look up your local Farm Bureau membership.

i looked it up, and i do have the gm discount in my state. i knew that some states had different manufacturers, but didn't know if i could still get the farm bureau discount(if it was only for a certain month or something).

after thinking for a while, i've widened my range from just a LT crew cab shortbox 4x4 with convenience package to now include all star edition. i really want a truck with fog lamps and the rear window defogger, those 2 options are the only 2 with both. the all star edition comes with the same stuff, but with a trailering package and 18' wheels. the convenience pkg costs $1525, with only 2000 off. the all star is $2640, but it comes with $750 off and an additonal $1000 off.. meaning it'd cost $890 for the all star vs. 1525 for the convenience pkg. but since i'm in a bind and can't find one i like with the 4.3 motor and in black.. i have both options open. but i'll use the price discrepancy as a bargaining chip.

2014 SLE crew cab standard bed Z71 4x4, 5.3, leather, Texas Edition and a few others. Stickered for $47,485, rebates and discounts knocked 11K off, and they gave 8 for the 05 Sierra 1500 CC SLE with 135K miles and lots of little hail dinks. Wrote a check for $30,591 and some change and it is mine. Purchased the third week of July of 14. I also cheated a little by bringing two tired and hungry kids who had been riding horses and swimming all day long with me who started throwing the sugar packets from the coffee stand at each other in the middle of the showroom. Made the negiotiations go much faster than I expected. I got there at 4:30 and he already had the truck out for me, drove it around for 30 minutes, and between haggling, them looking at my old truck, more haggling and me saying I HAD to go and get them fed, they came up with the a deal that I could live with. The whole process only took an hour and a half and I picked the new one up the next day at lunch. Kudos to Covert GMC in Austin for being easy to work with realizing early on that they were not going to win against hungry little girls.

That being said the old truck was a real workhorse. Towed a 9000 plus pound trailer 800 miles in one day (lots of gas stops). It would even tow the Toyota forklift without too much strain (about 13,000 pounds with the trailer). Did the front brakes once, changed a $400 sensor one time, regular oil changes, and that was it. After nine years of abuse and three big hail storms it was getting tired and I was going to have to sink some money in it or make a move. I drove a Ford, did not like the cheap plastic interior and I still could not reach over the side of the bed just like the last time I looked at them (I am almost 5'11"). Hell, the sales guy almost broke the plastic grill off when he closed the hood on it. I have had Chrysler products and Fiats before, no way I am going to have a cross between the two. So far I really like the new GMC, only thing I would change on it if I could would be to go back to the old style Lazy Boy like soft seats that looked like they came from an 80's Buick. The new ones sure look nice and are supportive, but at the end of the day I want something soft and cushy for my getting old bones. Might be time for a padded seat cover.

I recently bought a 2014 silverado dbl cab (5.3L, LT, TX edition, Leather seats, convenience pkg w/8" screen etc, and some other options). Sticker was 40,600. Final vehicle price was 30,400. Felt I got a pretty good deal.

    • If everything checks out at the MAF, then the MAF is BAD, new or not.   You don't need a signal generator to troubleshoot this. PCM needs ALL powers and ALL grounds able to light a halogen headlight bulb - if it can light the bulb bright, then the wiring is good enough to run the PCM.   Best thing you can do for yourself is spend some time here: scannerdanner.com - Check out all his YouTube videos on similar issues. If you decide to subscribe it's the best bang-for-buck ratio in the automotive world, hands-down. He's got TONS of free vids on YouTube, too.
    • Yes, I used my multimeter to probe all of the wires at the MAF, both with the sensor connected, sensor disconnected, key on engine off, key on engine running, etc etc etc. I probed all of the wires again at the PCM, at the connectors, etc. All voltages are what they should be according to the service manual/wiring diagrams. All grounds are good, less than 20 millivolts from the battery negative under load. Both at the connector of the MAF, at the PCM connector etc.      I know this throws a pretty big wrench into things, but this truck was acting up before the swap. I don't have very much information, if any on what was causing it, but if you cleared all of the dtcs it would do the same thing where it would crank, fire, then die. And it would do the same thing a dozen or so times, and eventually it would start and run, but the difference is that it would run and actually be drivable. Whereas now if you can drive it at all, it goes into reduced power mode almost immediately, and even then it's not running correctly. When you come to a stop at a light it stumbles down to for 500 RPM before catching itself and returning to the smooth idle. And if you go more than about 50% throttle then it immediately goes back to doing the misfire thing.    Like I said, I know that throws a wrench into things, and unfortunately I was not able to pull any data or anything like that before I did this work, so I don't have much to go on.    I'm trying to not fixate on one particular thing as the cause of the problem, but it seems like all avenues are pointing me towards the PCM. Like I said I have tested the wiring extensively (see above), and during cranking the sensor does produce seemingly legitimate values at least according to my multimeter, but as soon as the engine fires those values quickly descend into gibberish. I've tried it with multiple different known working sensors, I have done literally every test I can think of multiple times on the wiring (probing the signals, probing the pins with the sensors unplugged, probing the pins at the PCM, voltage drop, voltage drop under load, continuity, ohms, and double-checking everything against the wiring diagrams/ proper values in the service data.)    Another thing that pushes me towards a possible PCM failure is, I have noticed in troubleshooting a little bit taking a break and coming back, that when I leave the truck to sit for a while and cool off, it starts and runs smoothly when I first start it up. However once it warms up. It starts having problems. For example, when I went out to the truck this morning after it had been sitting overnight, I was actually able to drive it down the block. And then once I got on the throttle a Little bit after going about a thousand ft, it started misfiring again. I pulled it back into the driveway, shut it down, and started it back up. It idled smoothly. As soon as I touched the throttle it did the misfire thing again. From then on as soon as I started it it would misfire. I shut the truck off and went to go get a coffee and do a bit more research. When I came back out I started the truck up and it immediately went into the smooth idle. After a couple of minutes of playing around with it, it would not idle smoothly anymore. Let it sit a couple of hours, rinse and repeat. This makes me think with temperature change something is going wrong inside the PCM. I have the PCM out of the 2007 donor vehicle and I'm thinking of getting a one-day subscription to the ACDelco programming service to try and program that and see if it helps.   Like I said, I'm really trying to not fixate myself on one potential cause, but it seems everything is pointing me towards PCM failure. I would really like to try to confirm that, but unfortunately I don't have an oscilloscope or a signal generator to do the GM service procedure where you feed 5 khz into the signal pin.
    • Ahh, sorry about that - I got some bad info. Newdude is correct. That's what I get for working 13 hours straight ... on my "vacation", lol.   Should've checked the files I had instead of the internet.   Anyway ... this is GREAT news, since this would've been an absolute friggin nightmare to get working.   I don't think the lack of VVT is causing this - you've got another issue. Wiring, I'm betting.   I'm telling you right now, your computer isn't bad. If it worked before the swap, it's working now. You need to do some more (better) diagnostics and figure out exactly what you're missing. Did you test every wire directly at the MAF? Have 5V reference? Ground? If you're reading ZERO g/s, your Hz isn't much use - it's going to be the wrong value anyway. The MAF is not working, and you need to find out WHY.   I got this off the net, so VERIFY first: Pin A: Black (BLK) wire, Circuit 552, serves as the Sensor Return (Ground).  Pin B: Tan (TAN) wire, Circuit 472, carries the Intake Air Temperature (IAT) signal.  Pin C: Yellow (YEL) wire, Circuit 492, is the primary MAF Sensor Signal output to the PCM. Pin D: Pink (PNK) wire, Circuit 339 or 539, provides Ignition 1 Voltage (Power).  Pin E: Tan/Black wire, Circuit 552 or similar, often associated with the Intake Air Temperature ground or signal return.  Global-A list: https://postimg.cc/KKJnQC85
    • Correct....the end user can't reach to Realtruck directly like they can if they purchase a Bak, Undercover, etc...  It has to go through a dealer.
