Does Elite supply enough hose for either mounting locations?

Yes, you'll receive 6'+ of mounting hose. Enough for mounting at the Master Cylinder Location or Spare Battery Box location.

+5 to the E2, in addition to being good at its job, the install is super easy, and access to the CC for dumping waste is convenient at either mount location.

Is there an E2 Utlra can? From the way the website is written, it seems that there is an E2X single, double, and utlra. Or is the description under the E2 ultra section also in regard to the E2X double can?

So spent a lot of time today (perhaps some of that on work time. lol) trying to figure this out. I spent 1.5 hours last night going through a E2 install on a 2010 Chevy Silverado. The information I got was either conflicting, didn't make sense to me, was for 2014+ or didn't work on my truck for one reason or another. After 12 emails to Elite Engineering today and some of my own homework I was finally able to install it. I've created a how to thread here: http://www.gm-trucks.com/forums/topic/180365-how-to-catch-can-on-l9h-62l-engine-pre-2014/

So in reading the website, I just found the explanation as to why my glass catch can is always blasted with oil - like someone took an air hose at full pressure to the oil inside. Since I drive aggressively and tow quite a bit, that catch can is in a zero-vacuum state more often than not. I wondered about that when I was researching catch cans. Now I understand what the 3rd hose is for on the dual.

This may sound counterintuitive, but I wish those had the regular barbed fittings instead of AN fittings. I'm all about simplicity. Would be nice to buy just the Elite can and throw it on my current setup with clamps, without having to buy anything extra. Never used an AN fitting in my life, so maybe it's easy and I just don't know it .... but I like my simple squeeze-clamps. Function before fashion.

shooting from the hip here, has anyone actually installed two of these catch cans in a row to see how much the first one didnt catch?

Not on this forum, but a guy on an F150 forum did this. There is a link to his "experiment" in this thread some pages back. Bottom line is the cheapo can he had plumbed in line was catching A LOT less than the Elite can he had plumbed.

And he did it both ways. Cheapo can in line first, then Elite can next. Then he flipped them.

Maybe someone will repost the link...

It would be interesting to see how much the first one doesnt catch, this would be using 2 elite cans and not the cheapo units...Elite, how about you send me a second one(bought the first one already) and let me try this experiment ;)

Where are you guys getting these cans from? I've been seeing them price from $30 to $350. Seems like a pretty wide range in price. Is there one that a guy is suppose to stay away from or are they all pretty much equal? I have a 2015 GMC Serria All Terrain with the 6.2 love it so far but have been doing so reading and found the catch can thing coming up often. Do I really need the $400 one? Also any recommendations for a truck?

I'd like to find out if the hoses that come with the E2-x have the AN fittings attached or if it's simply just the hose?

We supply the hoses separately on the E2-X Catch Cans. They can be a little troublesome to push into the AN fittings, but we found if you run the hose ends under hot water, it really helps to assemble the two.

    • I'd change the fluid and start there.   198F is nothing for the 8L90.  They typically operate 180-200F stock.
    • Looking for help!   2019 GMC Sierra 1500 - 5.3l 4x4 8l90 61k miles - truck is in Arizona, was over 110 outside on Monday when this whole situation transpired. Never had any major issues with transmission until this point:   Truck sat outside my construction office for approx 1 hour idling before I realized, ran around the job site wrapping some things up for the day and then left. Went to get food and sat in the drive through for approx 30 minutes idling. As soon as I pull out of the drive through and onto the main road, rear tires lock up and feels like transmission fell out of the truck. Shifted to park, shut the truck off and tried again, same thing happened. Was able to reverse into parking lot (truck slammed into reverse). Let the truck sit turned off for 10 minutes before trying again, but it continued to happen. Towed truck back to my house. Highest the trans temps reached was 198.   Friday, after work I start looking into the situation. Truck sat in my driveway untouched all week. Truck is now driving like normal, transmission doesn’t get over 185 degrees when trying to heat it up. Got up to 60 multiples times with no issues, no issues accelerating, only down shifted hard into first one time at 185 degrees. Does anyone have any insight? Never through a code or a check engine light. Truck has never been used to tow either. No transmission services at this point.
    • Atlas won.   I know better, but I did it anyway. I took a compressed air line with a chuck and rubber tip and jammed it in the open EGR port. The port was clear as far as I could see, and as far as I could poke with a flexible wire, but that doesn't mean it's not clogged.   Compressed air blew back at me along with a cloud of black. Oops. I didn't have the rubber tip seated in there all the way. Jammed it up in there some more and squeezed the chuck. PSI was set to 120. Poof! It blew back at me again. Third time...pfffffttssssssspffffffsssfffffff, face full of carbon, and then, kind of a thud..and the air stopped spraying back at me. It was now exiting the exhaust with a low shhhhhh sound as it flowed through the pipe. Something broke free. I pressurized the port again, and air flowed.   Made my day.   Long story short on this problem, it's fixed. Something was really blocking the EGR passages down low, and compressed air blew it apart. I don't recommend this as who knows what debris was sent where. But it's allowed me to move forward, mentally, and onto the next problems I need to get this little S-Blazer going down the road properly again.
    • Your truck lowered, looks good. I'm happy with the stance on this. I may need the extra ground clearance given my location/situation.
