Hi all,

Does anyone know were I can find the cam specs for our 5.3's? I am wondering if we would be able to swap over to the new LT1 cam in the C7's. I wonder if the LT1 cam will have a larger fuel lobe?

Thanks

Will

Yeah I think I'm going to go the Hennessey route. John's already working on a set of heads and a cam that should make over 400whp on E85. My dad bought his V700 kit of John for his CTS-V and he loves it. Always makes me laugh to see an old fart driving around in a 700hp caddy.

Lingenfelter has swapped cams on the new 5.3 already. I read they were claiming an easy 420hp with a cam swap and tune.

I run some of my cars on his 1/4 mile track from time to time. I'm just a bit wary of his reputation in the past

He went on The Smoking Tire podcast and explained his past problems.

Hennessy is a fraud. Check out livernois motorsports for the real deal.

John made his mistakes but he has proven to be a forefront in aftermarket performance, Livernois has nothing on Hennessy. Look at what John has done with that company and then compare it to the little shops like livernois. I'm not putting them down but they can stick to tuning there 3.5's with hairdryers on them and leave the Chevy V8's to John.

I do agree that Lingenfelter is another wise choice. They have built some truly bad ass Chevy's but I'm going to go with Hennessy because I've already committed and I know they make a good product.

Point is- if you're going to get a blower/cam/tune then Hennessy or lingenfelter or any other big name you're just paying for the brand. Reputable small shops can do the same work for cheaper often with better results because they have more attention to detail and not as much going on at once.

If you're gonna spend the big $$$$ to go w/ a big name may as well step up and play with the big boys. Wanna spend $20g on your truck? Put a real motor in it- a Nelson racing engine! Yeah buddy, I've seen these in person and a lame ass blower doesn't even hold a candle to the built crate motors those dudes mess with

Point is- if you're paying for a name go big or go home

Or build it yourself ensuring it won't scatter its guts the first time you load it because some big name heroes monkey thought 50 lb ft on the rod bolts was 50 inch lbs... I agree on the name... it makes no difference on the results beyond how much it was. I mean look at the heads on an engine I just bought... Lingenfelter ported edelbrocks.... oooo... ahhhh... yeah. Found a test and these heads fell short across the board of some tsp ported 243s.... but they are lingenfelter and cost like 1200 a piece versus the tsps that were 1200 a set. Not worth the money. But I got the engine low miles with an mp 112 on it for less than the blower kit is new so why not.
