Hey guys I've had my Chevy for about a year and I'm sick of the chrome, I was thinking of plastidiping the chrome rear bumper and maybe the chrome honeycomb grille all black. Any one experimented with plastidip? good or bad reviews? I did a little research and with enough coats i think it could have a bad ass look.

Yep I have done my chrome taillight bezels on my camaro and my rims. Stuff holds up well. My rims took about 4 coats (4 cans total)

I will probably take it out but if i can't i will tape around it and be sure to place cardboard and sheets to keep it from getting on the radiator and engine.

I'd say go for it. I did it on my bowties and silverado letters, and it's held up well. I will probably need to redo my front bowtie soon though, because I got a little too overzealous at the car wash, lol. I've thought about doing the same thing with my grille and bumper to get rid of the chrome.

I painted my entire truck with plastidip. Going through the woods? No problem! If it tears you repaint it. Need to wash your vehicle? all you have to do is powerwash it, no scrubbing required. Need to wax your vehicle? Not with plastidip! Thank god too, this vehicle has way too much metal to properly wax it. I love it. So just your bumpers or bowtie it would be great im sure.

If and when you do it have a razor blade ready. See since it's a rubber coating when it adjoins to any blue masking tape it won't separate on its own like paint would when tape removed. Run a blade along all your taped off area creating a separation line so when tape is pelled off it doesn't peel back the actual plasti-dip. Been there, done that lol.
