Remote Start / Heated Seats Issues

Ok this issue is all over the place. Just to clarify and make this as easy as possible, my issue is that the heated or cooled seat function doesn't work at all with remote start when checked to "on" in settings. Some complain that it's not hot or cold enough for their liking but mine just plain doesn't work. Lights for heated seat aren't lit when remote started and even had it on when I last exited the truck. Anyone have this issue?

Heated seat lights don't come on when you remote start the truck. They work at a reduced rate if you have them checked as on in the settings

Just chiming in. I've had 4 other previous GM vehicles (still have one, and Equinox) and the seats very obviously heat on cold days during remote start. This truck DOES NOT heat seats in the same situation. My previous 2011 Silverado did, and very nicely it worked. GM's got issues in their software if you ask me....

EDIT: Just to clarify, the seat's heat works extremely well when in the truck and driving. Very fast to heat and says warm nicely. Just remote start doesn't work like past GM vehicles I've owned.

And, a lot of folks here seem to want to "NOT HELP". Please be kind and do not post negative remarks toward those that wish something to work as expected.

Just an update, the viper remote start I had installed does not turn on the heated seats when the truck is started with it so it didn,t help even though the run time is set at 1hr. They admit to having a problem with the software and are working on it (or so they say). So I guess i,m stuck with gm,s weak attempt at seat heating. I see some of you guys making jokes about heated door handles and the like and you know what it just isn,t funny. Let's see how people react when it gets really hot in the south and the cooled seats don,t cool. Am I being fussy about a small thing, no I am not, I do believe the seats should heat BEFORE I sit in them or don,t call them heated seats, they did heat in previous trucks. If gm wants to change the way things work they could say something before they sell it. Real world testing just doesn't exist anymore.

Good to hear they are aware and working on it. To me it doesn seem like a software issue (a previous post by me talks about "buggy" software in these trucks...) The seats overall seem to have a strong liking to having a butt planted in them (i.e. the radio display going active once you sit down, etc etc...) I wonder if the heated seats refuse to work without pressure? If so then the remote start would be worthless to the pre-heating of the seats, which goes against the truck manuals indications of how it should work, and how past GM trucks worked...

I bought my truck a week ago today. It was 18 degrees this morning and I noticed after nearly 10 minutes, my seats were cool to the touch. No heat present at all. I have the correct settings selected to heat or cool with remote starting. After reading this thread, I realized mine are not adequately working either, so I called my dealership today. I spoke to Jeff at Vestal GMC in Kernersville, NC. I'm hoping the information he provided with help you guys out that are having the same issue. He told me the seats after 10 minutes should be noticeably warm to the touch. He said if they are not, he needs to "Flash" the computer program that controls the heated seats under the remote starting feature again. He said other 2014 trucks have had a computer glitch that reprogramming this module will resolve. It's covered under warranty and takes about 15 minutes.

I plan on taking mine in next Monday for the spray in liner and the DuPont interior/exterior protection done. He said he would take care of it then. I will let you know next week if I can tell the difference and feel the heat. Colder temps are in the forecast for next week.

Hope this info helps.

FINALLY! Lol jeeze someone gets what I was saying! It doesn't work at all. Settings set to on, 10 degrees outside and seat warmer not on at all during remote start. I can tell because for one, the heated seat icon isn't lit up and for two it's freezing. Its not lukewarm or partially warm in spots, it's just plain not on period! Thank you sir, I'll contact my dealership asap. Appreciate it!

The lights WILL NOT come on during remote start. Also, you need to take a temperature comparison between the rear seats and the front seats. Your dealer cannot fix something that is working as intended.

OK so the lights don't come on. I can accept that if thats normal, although they should as to notify us they're on. But seriously? A temperature comparison? I'm not being picky and complaining that my seats aren't getting hot enough for my high standards of seat warming. Come on bro, the things aren't working. Period. But just because I'm home and to prove that I'm not one of these heated seat snobs that have had some fantastic heated seats in their past trucks and now complain that the 14s just aren't as good (which I can totally understand given the price we paid) I remote started, let it sit almost 10 minutes, front seats freezing, rear seats freezing. I rest my case. If it was working as intended this initial post would've never existed.

i'm trying to help you present GM with some valid information. My seats are freezing cold after 10 minute remote start, however if you sit in them during remote start they get warm. i'm asking for some valid temperature readings with a infrared temperature gun. that is something we could all use to present to our dealers.

No. I can assure you that I will not be purchasing a "infrared temperature gun". That's completely ridiculous. If u can't feel that the seat heater is on because of the warmth of the seat compared to any other leather surface in the car then there is no other information needed. Mine simply doesn't work and some others state theirs barely works. That's a clear issue we are all sharing. Heating at a "Reduced rate" while in remote start mode as was stated somewhere means to me a software or hardware issue. I worked in customer service for a long time and verbiage like that always means issues they haven't yet figured out how to resolve or won't be resolving. It's not a huge deal to me but it is definitely an issue and kind of irritating.

As far as the HVAC coming on with remote start Based on outside temp mine functions just as the old models do. High AC or high heat defrost

it irritates everyone but GM won't fix it without proof. they will simply state working as intended.

Proof?? The dammed seats do not heat to the same degree they did when the truck was new (mine is 11 months old with 7100 miles and 0-zero modifications to the electrical system)!!! I call GMs response that "the seats are working as intended" as nothing but gross negligence in the form of standing behind it's products.

It is not the consumers' responsibility to "prove" anything...it's GM's responsibility to "prove otherwise".

mine don't warm up at all with remote start and turned on in menu

Do this simple test to determine if you have a problem that your dealer can fix. Make sure the options setting is set for remote start heated seats to be on. Now go sit your arse in the seat and remote start the truck, if the seat does not noticeably heat up in remote start mode when the timer (10 minutes) turns the engine off then take it in to the dealer your seat heater is broken. As stated many many times previously in this thread the heated seats do NOT operate as well in remote start as previous models. If you are not sitting in them they will still be cold that is the new GM live with it.................

    • Still looks like a rivet to me in the pics, I don't see a nut and none of the pics show the head of the screw. But if you says so.....
    • Thanks for all the help so far!   I did try right from 2026 right down to 2021, and only from 2023 down lets me select the option for tire psi change, but I get the vehicle not supported error!   I'll definitely try it under Chevrolet after work today, and I'll get the sensor number from gm for my truck tire sensors. And I'll let you know if it works for me under Chevrolet!   And if that doesn't work, I'm going to guess that what @Atlas said about maybe I have a different body control module could be true!
    • From where I'm sitting this sounds like a compatibility problem. I'm assuming the 2007 was a 900-series truck, and not an 800-series (they were sold side-by-side in dealerships that model year), since it starts and runs.   This is why I HATE post-2006 vehicles. Everything becomes a huge problem when you try to keep the thing running for longer than the manufacturer has designed it to.    I can't remember when Global-A architecture started - either '10 or '11. For your sake, you had better hope it's '11, or you're going to be spending some BIG money to correct this cluster-eff. That's something you need to find out before doing anything else. You may have several computers bricked ... but the fact that it runs tells me you MIGHT be ok here.     EDIT: Just did a quick refresher. You're screwed. This is Global-A. The 2 systems are NOT compatible in the slightest. Once you get the correct engine in there that IS compatible, you're going to need to see how many computers are locked. Absolute NIGHTMARE to straighten out, too. Your buddy might be better off cutting his losses and finding something else.   Welcome to post-2006 vehicle electronics. This is why I quit the industry, and drive nothing built after 1994. This stuff takes all the fun out of wrenching!

    • True, hard to say what differences there may or may not be between Chev and GM as well as a production year or mid year part change either.    I just found it odd that under the Sierra choice on the Autel that many of the last few years of production year did not include the choice of changing the tire pressure but if that is an Autel thing or a GM thing as to why the choices were not there. Knowing what tpms sensors are on the truck should give some guidance into which choices on the tool even make sense to try as I wouldn't give up just yet with the tool but I guess he will see what if anything he comes up with if he finds out a bit more info and tries a few more things on the Autel.
