There's not much clearance between the plastic & metal, so you'll have to buy lights that'll fit (like NitroDatsik did below)

Registered just to respond to OP. I did the exact same mod. When I spliced into the green wire nothing happens. Splice into the trailer pin works. But not the green wire coming out of the gray and blue boxes. Any suggestions?

Adding led backup lights

Any pictures of the finished product and any comments on how they came out? I've been wanting to see a K2 with these reverse lights. I think it's nice that they are flush, BUT I don't really want to start cutting into a 50K truck

Very nice! Came out great and really digging the front bar. Makes me want to do that instead of behind the grill. Still debating though

Looks good. Which optics did you go with on the rears: spot, flood, or diffused? I went with flood on mine but kind of wishing I had got diffused instead.

Amber or white strobes? Just for fun or a specific purpose?

What makes you wish that you would've gotten diffused? The wider beam pattern? Just curious cause I am considering ordering some LEDs for reverse and if you are saying that diffused would be better, It makes me think of getting those over floods

Someone had a full LED strip they used as a backup light. Looked slick mounted under the tailgate and no drilling needed as would be required with the bumper step LED pods....who was that?

IMO, they're a little too focused. Gives me a ton of light 20' behind the truck but not much near bumper corners. I'll prob put two pod lights under the bumper corners

does anyone know if it is possible to wire the reverse lights to BOTH a swtich AND the reverse lights? Don't want to have to flip a switch everytime I back up the truck but also want to be able to flash irritating tailgaters and use as work lights behind the truck. Just waiting for my 2014 Sierra to come in and then I can start to experiment with some of these things. Thanks

i had a set of these:

KC Hilites 517 26 Series Backup/Flood Light

installed on a truck I had about 6 years ago. The LED technology and availability of different options is a lot more diverse now than it was even that short of a time ago. What I am getting to is the wiring harness in this kit sounds like what a lot of you are looking to accomplish. When you put the truck in reverse the auxiliary lights come on, but it is made to run a switch so that you can turn them on anytime you need them. I am not sure if the wiring harness is available on it’s own though? I loved it, looking to do the same only with LED’s and you guys have done some great things here! I think I may go with the low profile, 4 across option due to the fact that my truck has no lift or level kit and it would give them a better chance of not bottoming out on something.

    • Howdy folks,   Recently I pulled a heated steering wheel and clock spring out of a 2015 Sierra All Terrain (part numbers coming soon - will have to disassemble), and just installed it on my 2016 Sierra WT (as base model as it gets).   On install, I noticed that I’m missing the connector often tucked behind the dash for the heating element.     No problem… or so I thought.   I used an “Add-A-Fuse” at my heated steering wheel fuse location, which has voltage, but no wires. I ran it to the positive of the heated steering wheel (Violet/White), and took black to ground.   Hooked up the battery, turned the truck on - no heated steering wheel. No button backlights. Was pleased to see that my cruise control was working though.   Read a post suggesting reversing polarity, so I gave it a shot. Violet and White to ground, Black to power.    Aha! Heat! But I seemingly can’t turn it off AND still no backlights on any of the buttons.    Checked all fuses, everything is still in good order. I’m stumped.   Does anyone have any insight? If so, please share!
    • I'm about 1800 miles into my last oil change, and yesterday a message appeared saying oil life was at 77%. Not sure why it popped up but I think all of these electronics could be susceptible to solar flares or somesuch. I change my oil right at 3K each time, and that was the first time in 10870 miles that message came up. Strange thing is that it showed on the screen at all since I don't drive with that sort of info displayed on the DIC.

    • Checked the pads today and there's plenty of meat on them. If the message keeps coming up, I'll just answer YES that the pads were replaced and wait for the squeal.
    • Welcome to the Forum! Always post the code definitions along with the codes. there are over 18000 possible codes, no one remembers them all and most will skip over your post rather than look them up
