So I made one video with the muffler removed...now I went a step further. I have removed the resonator and left the exhaust tunred down over the axle. So no muffler, no resornator just the cats. I have the vaulve clamped open and it's pretty loud. I'll have to get you guys a clip soon.

So you removed the muffler, resonator, but kept the valve and then clamped it open?

I origninally left it to help with drone when I removed just the muffler. But after cutting off the resonator the valve caused a bit of rasp at low rpm. I clamped it open which helped, just haven't had time to cut it out and put a piece of pipe in. Which I probrably won't since the exhaust will change again soon.

have a question bout the oem muffler - noticed when looking for the eav valve on the back side of the muffler, there is a hole on the bottom, in the crease of the sidewall basically - is this a bad weld or some sort of drain? also, was looking for the ol flapper valve due to the loud squeak when coming out of v4 into v8 - figured this was the culprit - can it be lubricated or modified in anyway to stop it from doing so? thanks - just keeping everything stock for the moment - dealing with the rear end vibration issue with dealer/gm and don't want to give them any reasons to start waving fingers at me -

installed new borla this morning love the sound

Sweet. Any V4 drone or helicopter sound?

Looks like your factory exhaust was leaking at the front connection.

Edit: oh, shoot I just realized you got the ATAK!

Yeah I haven't even really heard of them, but Flowmaster is a top of the line brand, ill go with them for a exhaust and try the Injen cold air intake, the other cold air intake on the site is 100 bucks more but i did my research, and the people who dyno tested it, actually lost performance, which is why research pays off, wow.

Hey Mike, just curious, which exhaust did you end up going with?

I ended up ordering a Maganflow exhaust from hottexhaust.com part # 15268

I have been reading a lot about Gibson and their products aren't the best around. A lot of folks are having issues with some of their exhausts. I'm definitely not an expert. I would expect around spring you will start seeing new models.

I got the Gibson single swept side exhaust. It sounds good with a nice deep burble. Unfortunately the V4 drone is horrible. The pipes and muffler were heavy gauge stainless. Easily better than a Flowmaster setup. The clamps Gibson includes with the kit are garbage. I managed to snap one of the U-bolts with nothing more than a 1/2" ratchet. I ended up ordering a couple Walker lap joint band clamps and Permetex exhaust sealant. Exhaust note sounds much better with a proper seal.
