You will be glad you made the plunge...the Borla system bolts right up and was an easy on the driveway install!

As you get some miles on it the system will "run in" a bit and get a little more throaty. Nothing obnoxious, just a bit more tone. :)

Can you post some videos on yours?? Debating the single or dual side exhaust but I can't find any clips of both.

I finally managed to make a quick video. I'm hoping to get a video with more revving/acceleration soon.

Is anyone running the Corsa exhaust for the 6.2? I remember watching their videos a couple of months back and it sounded really nice.

Well I gave in.........went over to my dealer this morning and ended up ordering the GM Borla package for my truck. He had a new truck on the lot, to which they had installed the Borla package, so I was able to get an real life preview of the system.

Upon cold startup, there is a really nice "Bark" from the pipes, which quickley softens. Even when reving the engine while in "park" there is a nice expected V8 growl from the pipes, but really nothing you wouldn't class as "music"

We went for a short ride, and the cabin noise was non-existent until under acceleration, and even then, the sound to me was exactly what a V8 should sound like. The manufacturers are so obsessed with having a "Quiet" vehicle, the have completely forgot about the folks who prefer to hear their V8 in action.

Anyway, I was very impressed, and have to say this is the ticket for anyone that is looking for something just a bit louder than stock, with a nice bite under acceleration, and a quiet cabin. The sound may be a little subdued for some that are looking for more of an aggressive tone, but for "Old Fellers" like me, it fills the bill perfectly. A little more "Pricey" than having a muffler shop build you a system, but to me, finally getting the sound I've been chasing in my last two trucks, it's well worth it.

I decided to go with the twin pipe side exit, which to me seems just a little more of a modern look. I also didn't like the fact that the Borla exhaust pipe itself, being only 2.25", looks kinda' funny when it upsizes to the 4" split rear tips. Not a real big deal but my last 2 Silverados had the split twin pipes out the back, so it's time for a change.

They will be ordering the kit today, so hopefully I'll have it installed before the end of the week. Thanks for everyones input, this thread was very helpful in making my decision

Was there any drone when the engine switched to V4?

Was there any drone when the engine switched to V4?

We really didn't go very far on the test drive, but to be honest, I really couldn't hear anything inside the cab. There really wasn't anywhere we could get the truck up to highway speed, where the V8/V4 transitions are most noticeable, but I couldn't hear anything from the exhaust unless under acceleration. I'm sure a lot of the cab sound control, is just a result of the 2014's being so quiet in the first place, so it's very hard to tell what it sounds like outside.

I had a magnaflow system on my last truck (a 2007 LT 5.3) and the exhaust sound was a lot more noticeable in the cab in similar driving conditions. I had a Muffler Shop install my MF system which was not a complete cat back from MF, but just a MF muffler, and "custom" bent piping, built right there onsite. Even with this system, I really didn't find the drone/resonance/helicopter sound or whatever you call it all that offensive. It was there, but I sort of considered it an "audible" alert that the engine was transitioning from one mode to another.

It almost seems that this V8/V4 drone/etc etc is more of an issue with the 2014's. I don't think that "flapper valve" thingy was part of the 07-13 truck exhaust system. Possible in GM's quest for "Quietness" this valve was installed just to control that aspect, because in the previous generation of trucks, you could hear the exhaust note change slightly even without a performance muffler set-up, and in a lot of the Automotive reviews of the 2014, often a point is made that the V8/V4 transition is imperceptible.

Anyway, from the sound in the cab of that 2014, I wouldn't expect any issues at all with the V8/V4 thing. I will say again, that I think a lot of the "Young whippersnappers" might find the GM Borla system to be on the "Tame" side. As "Daniel T" has posted, the system does seem to "Break-in" to the point where there will be a little more sound, which is fine by me. I wouldn't mind that, as long as the "in-cab" noises are controlled, which appears will be the case.

Oh and on another note.......my parts guy called, and apparently the Canadian GM distributors are "Out of Stock" on the Borla system, and it looks like it will take 10 days for my system to arrive, as it must be shipped up from the US..........damn. Oh well, a few more days won't be that bad.

Thanks. Keeps us posted on how everything turns out. I still looking for an exhaust for my 14' 6.2 Denali.

The 7-13's did NOT have the exhaust adaptive valve on them and I did notice the V4 note change with stock exhaust. It got really bad, though, when I installed a Banks performance cat back exhaust system. It was so bad that I was going to turn off AFM if I hadn't traded it in. On the '14, I want to keep it stock or very mild...I like the quiet now. They really added to the stock system to quiet it down...3rd cat, big muffler, resonator, adaptive valve...

Thanks Chuck, I didn't think the last generation of trucks had the exhaust valve. I was like you, really thought I was going to enjoy the "quiet" ride this time. That was until I heard that GM Borla system.

I had the same experience with my MF system on my 07, the V4 drone was much louder than in the stock mode. To me, mine wasn't really all that bad, and it didn't bother me that much. I think everyone's different when it come to what frequencies bother them, to some it's OK, to others the exact same sound is unbearable.

The ride itself in the cab with the Borla system is quiet, the only time you hear anything even slightly, is when you get on the throttle. Then it's just a low V8 rumble, just letting you know there are more than 6 guys rowing under the hood. In my opinion, to get this sound, you have to spring for the GM Borla system, which comes with the valve and bypass pipe built in. A tad on the expensive side, but not going this route I'm sure will result in some degree of the V4 Drone.

The only other muffler I have read good things about, is the Dynamax VT (I think that's what it's called) which apparently also has it's own valve built right into the muffler's shell.

Just a warning, if you want to leave your truck stock, don't under any circumstances have a listen to the GM Borla System. It had me on the cold start up, not to mention the one I was in had both dual outlet pipes exiting on the passenger side, with the polished "Borla" tips......just looked way cool to me.

Thanks for the warning! I'm going to stop reading this thread or I'm doomed. I've done things like that before (heard or saw and then bought). That's why I have a '14 when my '11 was low mileage and nothing wrong with it. :)

It started when my sin put a Corsa on his 2010.

I bought the magnaflow dual out the back. Also have a Diablo tuner and tuned the v4 mode out. Sounds pretty good and no drone..

Sounds like myself, I wouldn't have even been into the 2014 if it not for my son, who kept pestering me about selling him my 07. It also had nothing wrong with it and only had about 24,000 miles on it. I figured someone should be putting miles on it. It wasn't doing it any good just sitting in the garage.

Now I can let my 2014 sit in my garage.........oh, my son's already planting the seeds about when he gets the new one.

Yes, from what I have read, if you turn off the AFM, the V4 drone will be gone. The only problem is you are also defeating the purpose of AFM, that being improving fuel mileage. Probably no big deal, but I'm sure a lot of development went into AFM, and it seems a shame not to take advantage of it.

It seems you get the best of both worlds with the GM Borla system. Without tuning out the V4 mode as you have done, I'm sure there will be a certain amount of V4 drone with any system. Some more than others.

I did not buy a truck for the fuel mileage. If I lose .5 to 1 mpg then I'm willing to pay that for the magnaflow. It is an extremely well designed system amd comes with polished tips that look really nice. Plus I bought the magnaflow system and the Diablo Intune tuner for a similar price of the GM Borla system. Don't get me wrong. I think the GM Borla system is really nice but I am happy with the setup I've chosen..

    • Yes that's right, it's the upgrade that includes the overload spring and all that stuff.   Someday when I'm empty and going by a scale I'm going to stop in and get some weight readings.   Exactly  you should have the ability to change individual settings, in in Canada so I'm driving with kph but then I'm stuck with kpa when I want psi lol
    • You must have that upgraded gvw package which is only available or at least was in 2025 with the diesel engine for the 3/4 ton and that gave the truck physically the larger 12.0 ring gear rear diff and the 3500 rear spring pack. There is a difference in what the diff housing looks like externally as one tell tale and also your truck should have the upper overload spring pack and the frame pads that the pack goes up against.    The pressure the tpms system kicks the alarm in on a stock setting truck, that is a good question and was just from what I recall but I doubt I made any notes on it as I knew for the rear that it was not at all what I was after regardless either. Being that you have a diesel and if running on stock tires the minimum pressure on an empty truck seems to be around 50 psi from hearing of those that have weighted the front axle but the rear axle is very similar in weight to a gas truck and again a near empty truck on the rear could go down to 35 pounds at minimum. However the weigh scale is the proper way to know for sure as a guide.    As to changing the readings on the dash from metric to the US measuring system, oh yes that is done easily but what I was attempting to explain was that I can't pick and choose items I want to have in US and those I still want in the metric system at the same time as its either all or none. For example lets say you drove into Canada and switched your dash over to metric so your speedometer read in km an hour, well then your reading kilopascals on your tpms readout and your wife looks over and says what the hell is that saying in the tpms screen and you say "darned if I know, I think its Chinese" !
    • This is partly why I decided to have switched over to Amsoil SS as a way of hopefully preventing the buildup of the sludge/carbon on the pistons and clogging of the oil control rings and the carbon that would cause the compression rings to stick in their grooves as well as stay cleaner up top of the heads in the valve train in the first place, an oil that has tested better by third party testing over typical shelf oil and also doing my best to run relatively short OCI. However in saying that I don't think there is any way to easily prove the oil I was using prior allowed for a buildup at the OCI I was doing, nor in the other direction to make claims the Amsoil is keeping everything clean either. There really isn't a window into the engine is there to know anything for certain even if oil samples were taken for example that showed still healthy oil being dropped out of the oil pan other than engine tear downs that extensive and expensive testing of oils does to actually visually see what is really going on inside the engine. I wish there was some easy method of seeing what is going on but I don't happen to be aware of that if there is.
    • My truck is a ¾ ton but my placard also says 80 for the rear tires, I think I might have the upgraded suspension to the 3500 series maybe.   I put my air down to 60 and the light was still on, and there was no way I was putting over 60 psi in the rear empty and not towing because I knew the actual number Toyo gave me and I didn't wanna ruin the center of my tires!   And you actually can change it in the settings from metric or is and it will show kph or mph then when you go into your tire settings it will be either psi or kpa, but it would be nice to just change it directly on the tire psi page
