You've had good luck with flowmaster? I've heard bad things and good things so it's hard to tell what to believe.

I've just had them last a long time in my '98 which was beat to death on and off-road. It came with a couple Flowmasters already on it (got it used), just not sure what series they were. They looked like they had been on the truck since new since they didn't look nowhere near new when I got the truck. Well they lasted for the entire time I had the truck and the truck saw a ton of mud. The only reason I had them replaced was because a lot of the factory pipes and whatever tailpipes that were on it rusted out so I just had a good portion redone even though the mufflers themselves were still in solid condition. Part of that was just me wanting to also at least know what mufflers I had so I had them replaced with the rest of the pipes.

It's just like anything else including these trucks in general. Some people will have good luck with things while others will have bad luck. Nothing has happened for me to make sure to go away from Flowmaster so I'll stick with them. I'm not trying to sell Flowmaster to you, you get whatever brand you want, I'm just saying I haven't had any bad luck with Flowmaster and being that I'm brand loyal with everything I'm going to stay with them unless their quality goes into the dump and go off just their name to sell products.

I've always used Flowmasters on my past 2 trucks (Super 40 and Super 10) and put a 14" Maganflow on my '15 about a month ago. Never had any problems with Flowmaster at all and they sound great, specially that 10 - sounded like I had a cam on idle and would scream when you got on it lol! Magnaflow is quieter but I think has a more quality, solid deep sound, probably due to the "acoustical packing" where as Flowmaster uses baffles.

Can't go wrong with either IMO and about the same $

Well said....it's all about the sound you want. I have nothing bad to say about FM, MF, Borla. I've ran them all (on multiple vehicles).

Listen to sound clips on youtube, but just make sure you're listening to the same vehicle style or exhaust components.

Oh, and the MagnaFlow 14", I ran that on my 6.0 and it sounded good.

I will second the 14" Magnaflow. I have one and love it!

Here are some videos of mine.
I did a 14" Magnaflow with 3" pipe all the way out from the Y and cut the 3rd cat

What size is the stock piping? 2.75 and the 3" muffler just slid over it and was welded in place?

The Borla being 3" in and out, accepts 3" piping into the inlet/outlet. So, what is done is that a 3" piece is put into the inlet and outlet and then cut to the length needed. Then that 3" pipe inside the Borla inlets and outlets is slid over the stock 2.75" pipe and welded.

I'll attach a pic so you can see it.

The outlet (left side) the 3" piece of pipe is in the Borla outlet, but only didn't extend out, just put it in there to snug the 2.75 and make the weld easier.

The inlet (right side) the 3" piece of pipe is inserted into the Borla inlet and then extends to the factory 2.75 piping where the muffler was cut out and welded on that side (along with the weld at the borla inlet to insure no leaks).

I see what you mean now! Are magnaflow mufflers like that too? Where they are made for the 3" to slid into it?

Yup, if the muffler says 3", it means it accepts 3" piping. (at least all the ones I have dealt with).

Every manufacturer has a page like this, it will explain the different muffler styles they have and then the sizes they offer.

I know the Borla XR-1 is more of a race muffler, where as the Borla ProXS is more of a touring muffler.

Sweet, thanks for the help! I'm going to hopefully pick something out soon.

NP, take your time and listen to videos and find what you like.

Another option I just though of, is Volant. It's pretty much Corsa, with cheaper grade steel. I don't think you can get a muffler only though, but the catback is fairly reasonable. It has really good sound, you can ask txjose about that.

I think I've narrowed it down to either the Borla xr-1 or magnaflow race muffler. Can't decide, they both sound great.

Anyone familiar with the Gibson Metal Mulisha exhaust for 6.2L? If so what's the deal with the 4" piping? Sounds good as far as I can hear on YouTube just not a big fan of the exhaust tip but cant beat the price. I've used Corsa sport on 2 prior vehicles and still looking for that sound level but don't really want to pay the 1k price tag.

Does anyone know if the Stainless works exhaust is good? I heard a couple of video clips and it sounds pretty good to me.

SW is a very good well known company. Everything I have seen has looked and sounded great. They are just a tad on the spendy side, but you get what you pay for.
