Guys looking for some suggestions

I have a 6.2 and had the muffler chopped off almost a year ago. Left the resonator and flapper, and the sound was great. No drone, chopper sound etc

A few months later the flapper would act up and rattle like crazy very randomly. It drove me nuts, and more recently was getting a bit of a rattle for a few seconds at start up. Dealer won't warranty cause I've chopped the muffler

Anyway, had enough of it and wanted a new tip setup so took it into a shop a few days ago to have the tips done and flapper removed. They said removing the resonator wouldn't affect the sound much and needed to pull it to create the set up I wanted (two black tips side by side Corsa style) so I said fine

Picked up my truck alter that day and fired it up and its crazy loud, especially cold start. Its a bit too much. Piss off the neighborhood loud. For city driving its fine I could deal with it but I do lots of highway driving and the sound/more drone would be too much. Chopper sound isn't bad, but is there a little and the drone at some rpm ranges is worse

I'm looking for a muffler, probably Borla hoping to tone it down a bit and of course reduce possible drone. Any suggestions? I am also considering throwing the resonator back in where I chopped the muffler off originally to tone it down cause I think its a straight thru design and would fit. I should have paid for a cat back right off the bat but hoping I don't have to go that route now that I got new tips etc

What are thoughts or experience on throwing the resonator where the muffler was, or muffler recommendations. thanks

Any videos??

I did the exact same thing in my 6.2 and I'm wanting to go louder. Lol

Hope this vid works. This is no muffler, flapper or resonator. I've since put the resonator back on, toned it down a bit.

There are definitely times when I miss it loud like this though haha

Has anybody tried out a Craven muffler? I found it while searching YouTube videos. There aren't many specific to 2014 or 2015 Silverados or Sierras, but they have a few videos of the older Gen's.

Sounds a lot like my 14" magnaflow

Has there been a diagram of the stock exhaust system posted anywhere? I done some searching around and haven't found one. Just trying to get a visual of it and where the different cats, mufflers, valves, etc. are all located.

I am going with a carven R setup....

tho i want to know what setup will get me the best results. I was thinking some pacesetter headers with 3" tubing to true duals and a X pipe.....or an i better off with a Y and a single 3"??

Where would you install the X pipe? I thought there was a single pipe going into the muffler.

True duals.... From the headers all the way back.

I just domt want there to be a big loss in back pressure to where i will loose HP/TQ

Magnaflow 18" on 2014 sounds a lot different than the 2012 . The short stroke 4.8 Vortec sounded close to the older high revving 327/350 Chevys, the 2014 5.3 DFI seems under no stress at all with a mellow tone. Thinking of replacing 3.5"x18L Slash cut tips with 3" inch tips and adjust the pipes up a little. Gibson 15 deg. cut are the only 18" bolt on tips I could find.

Had it in my mind to go with another tip so first chance stopped by a Custom Muffler shop yesterday. After checking it out Mr.C said 3.5 tips looked good on type truck I have and other shop did a good job . Said really couldn't do any better unless wanted to change to side exit. So if it looks good to him looks good to me. But knowing me will want to change to a different setup in a year or two.

It will be a Turd with dual 3" dual pipes, you would be better off with a single 3" and Y-pipe and good headers and pacesetters are not good headers. Kooks or ARH's are top notch products.

The Best.... Thats Subjective and without getting into a Header war IMO I like ARH but Kooks and Stainless works I would not have an issue choosing either.

    • Hello All!   My 2019 Colorado 3.6 LT, 4WD Crew Cab has approximately 77,500 miles and I recently began experiencing the well-known transmission shudder between about 30 and 65 mph. The problem had worsened to the point that I could no longer attribute it to road conditions - and I had decided to bring the truck to the dealer - when recently, I experienced a sudden loss of power while driving at maybe 40 MPH. Several warning lights flashed, the “Check Stabilitrack” message appeared, and the Check Engine, Stabilitrack, and Traction Control icons remained illuminated. The truck regained driving power, but it stayed in a low gear with unusually high RPMs for the speed. (limp mode?) Because I was only about two miles from home, driving slowly, I was able to make it back and run an OBD-II scan, which showed fault codes U0101, P0700, and U0100. My next trip in the truck was to drive it to the dealer the following day. That trip began normally, but after about a mile I experienced another loss of power, along with the same warning lights and the same “Check Stabilitrack” message. As before the truck remained driveable, but again operated at an abnormally high RPM-to-speed ratio and seemed stuck in a single gear. About a mile later, the dashboard lit up once more, this time displaying “Check 4WD.” Soon after that, I arrived at the dealer. I have verified that the truck still has its original factory transmission fluid, which means it has never received the corrective fluid exchange outlined in GM Technical Service Bulletin #18-NA-355.  That was Thursday of last week and I've heard nothing yet from the dealer.    According to Technical Service Bulletin #18-NA-355 and the build date of my truck, my truck should have the newer LV fluid. I've done a little research and read something about a problem with the wiring harness as well.   Anyone have an insights into this situation?  Thank you!!

    • Did you even read this article?   Even the title of the article says "U.S.-Iran Deal Doesn’t Mean a Swift Return of Oil and Gas Flows"   Remember, crude oil prices are based on FUTURE purchases by the oil companies.  Gas prices are based on FUTURE purchases by the station.  This article stated that many of the oil producing nations have to restart their processes to get the oil produced.  Then the oil has to be shipped to wherever.  And it doesn't get there overnight.  And most of that oil is not coming here. Check out this site:  https://afdc.energy.gov/data/10621   A graph will pop up to show where the US imports their oil from.  Notice that there isn't a lot of import from OPEC and Iraq.  Most of the US import comes from Canada. The US oil produces are selling their oil on the open market, which is why the US fuel costs went up.  So you're correct, the US oil companies are going to slow walk the price downward.
