I just got a pair of the Twisted Metal Workz UCA's delivered.  Take the truck in next week to get them installed.  I only have drop spindles but the wheels sit quite a bit back in the wheel well and my 22's rub and most turns.  I can't wait to get rid of that problem.  Part of the reason i was think about the struts and shocks was thinking about getting all of the work done at the same time.  Thanks again.
Do you have a DJM or IHC kit installed?

I originally had the IHC with the lower control arms only for a 3"/5" drop but didn't want it quite that low partly because it was a touch lower than I wanted but mainly because it rubber a lot.  I chose the kit because the front wheel was not supposed to shift backward, but in my case that was not what happened.  IHC tried to make it right and even sent me a second set of arms to fix the problem.  It didn't change the wheel position.  So at that point I followed Nasty's advice and changed the arms back to stock and put in a drop spindle.  The wheel position improved a small amount but not much.  The turning radius/rubbing problem improved to a tolerable level.  Since Nasty mentioned the TMW UCAs though I have been hopeful that they will improve the wheel position enough that I might get back a large amount of turning radius I lost.  When I talked to the mechanic doing the alignment he said it was the stock UCAs that were limiting the wheel position.

My wheel shifted a lot with either their lower control arm only kit or a drop spindle.  The spindle was less but not much.

I've never had that issue with just a spindle.

Well apparently I am the exception because my wheel is quite a bit back.  The stock UCAs are adjusted as much as they can be and it is still back a lot.  Is there a way that the spindle could be installed wrong to cause this situation?  Not sure if the picture does it justice but this is post spindle.

Its not.  Picture isn't doing it justice.  Rubbing is only along the rear of the wheel well and occurs with just over a turn and a half.  Besides if it were stock then the IHC wheel movement was basically the same.

That looks a little better than mine with only a 2 inch drop upfront.  Your driver side looks better than the passenger side in the pictures.  Is that what you see in person?

Mine is the same. Drivers is less

When it was at 4 upfront yeah that's how it looked in person, since then I've moved up to 3 inches because the rubbing was bad. I refused to go with a smaller tire and I've never really checked the gaps ever since tbh

Will the TMW UCAs fix that difference?  My alignment tech said he couldn't move the wheel any farther forward because the stock UCAs didn't allow it.  I ordered the TMW UCAs after seeing your endorsement of them because they are more adjustable.

Looks like you are running the 20" rims with standard tire size, correct?  I have 22's with 285/45 tires (stock tire size for these OEM rims).

    • Well that book won't sell many copies. Taking ones right foot off the loud pedal never gets applause. Funny really, It isn't that people don't know what to do...they just don't want to do it. But they will complain about it. About bad craftsmanship, about the cost of fuel, about the cost of part and repairs and mainly they complain that the solution while still possible isn't one they are willing to do.    I observe this daily. 'Gas cost to much!", they wail, while they mat it passing at 80+ mpg and scoot down the road like gas cost a dime a gallon. Then complain about the few that will lift and save both fuel and iron like they are owed and own the road.    Good thing they haven't an ounce of influence on my equipment. The rest I just laugh at. Stupid is as stupid does, right Forest?     
    • Today I filled up with 4.899 gallons of fuel at a cost of $4.899 a gallon. $24 bucks. 290 miles. 59.2 mpg. After my 4% COSTCO discount just under eight cents a mile.  
    • Howdy folks,   Recently I pulled a heated steering wheel and clock spring out of a 2015 Sierra All Terrain (part numbers coming soon - will have to disassemble), and just installed it on my 2016 Sierra WT (as base model as it gets).   On install, I noticed that I’m missing the connector often tucked behind the dash for the heating element.     No problem… or so I thought.   I used an “Add-A-Fuse” at my heated steering wheel fuse location, which has voltage, but no wires. I ran it to the positive of the heated steering wheel (Violet/White), and took black to ground.   Hooked up the battery, turned the truck on - no heated steering wheel. No button backlights. Was pleased to see that my cruise control was working though.   Read a post suggesting reversing polarity, so I gave it a shot. Violet and White to ground, Black to power.    Aha! Heat! But I seemingly can’t turn it off AND still no backlights on any of the buttons.    Checked all fuses, everything is still in good order. I’m stumped.   Does anyone have any insight? If so, please share!
    • I'm about 1800 miles into my last oil change, and yesterday a message appeared saying oil life was at 77%. Not sure why it popped up but I think all of these electronics could be susceptible to solar flares or somesuch. I change my oil right at 3K each time, and that was the first time in 10870 miles that message came up. Strange thing is that it showed on the screen at all since I don't drive with that sort of info displayed on the DIC.
